5-year-old boy mauled by dogs on Detroit’s west side
DETROIT – A 5-year-old boy who was attacked by two dogs Friday morning is expected to survive. Police said the boy was feeding five large dogs with the owner, a 36-year-old man, when the man left the room for a few minutes and when he came back, he saw two dogs attacking the child. “We heard the dogs being taken out in the trucks,” West recalled. Neighbors said they often saw the dogs just roaming around the street. He would say, ‘Get away from the dogs,’” West said.
5-year-old boy expected to survive after dog mauling in Detroit

Child Protective Services are working with Animal Control in the investigation.
17-year-old boy shot exiting vehicle on Detroit’s west side
DETROIT – A 17-year-old boy was shot Saturday night as he exited his vehicle near the intersection of Mendota Street and Chicago on Detroit’s west side. According to authorities, it happened at about 11 p.m. and the shots may have been fired from a dark-colored Dodge Durango. Police said the boy was taken to a hospital, where he is expected to be OK. Serious crash shuts down southbound lanes of Lodge Freeway
DETROIT – A serious collision shut down the southbound lanes of the Lodge Freeway in Detroit Sunday night. Video from the scene shows at least two vehicles were involved near Chicago Boulevard. It’s unknown when the southbound lanes will reopen. Police have not released further details at the time.
Mother seeks answers 14 years after son murdered in Detroit
DETROIT A mother is grieving the loss of her 23-year-old son more than 14 years after he was murdered in Detroit -- and police are still trying to solve the case.
