Ann Arbor parents launch GoFundMe to start PAC as school district mulls staying virtual
ANN ARBOR โ A GoFundMe organized by parent group Ann Arbor Reasonable Return has surpassed its $30,000 goal in under 24 hours. โAnn Arbor Reasonable Return is exploring all options to get relief for families in the Ann Arbor Public Schools who have been in virtual only learning since March 13, 2020,โ reads the GoFundMe page. โWe are raising funds for establishing a political action committee (PAC) that can then take steps like retain professional legal and lobbying counsel. According to the Board of Education, if they vote to keep school virtual, children with the greatest needs will be able to return to buildings at the end of March. AdCo-founder of Ann Arbor Reasonable Return Lena Kauffman said that the group is currently in the process of signing with the firm.
Mohawk Elementary School alum creates an outdoor classroom space
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. โ The push for school safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic has led one Macomb County student to expand his thinking about what a classroom could become. Chippewa Valley Schools has started face-to-face learning with elementary schools Wednesday and secondary students return Monday with its hybrid program. Mohawk Elementary School in the Chippewa Valley School District and has an outdoor classroom space that was designed by 17-year-old Mohawk alum Nate Lyons. It is now a viable space for children to learn. Lyons combined science with creativity to create the space.
U-Mโs Matthaei Botanical Gardens offering virtual field trips
ANN ARBOR โ Who remembers field trips? Luckily, University of Michiganโs Matthaei Botanical Gardens staff are organizing virtual field trips for classrooms and groups. Virtual field trips are offered Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Here are the topics and recommended grade levels, according to its website:Roots and Shoots : Explore plants and their needs. Southfield Public Schools plan to balance student safety, needs at home
