Revving up for the big race weekend
The roar of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will return to Belle Isle for the last time in just over two weeks. Drivers from all around the world will speed around the island circuit before the race moves to the streets of downtown Detroit next year.

Detroit Grand Prix shifts back to one-weekend format for 2021
DETROIT – The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear is shifting back to its one-weekend format for 2021. AdWe are excited to bring the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear back to Belle Isle in 2021 and return to a traditional one-weekend format June 11 through the 13, featuring five great races with three incredible racing series. All three series will host races on June 12, with the first Indy Lights racing action on Belle Isle since 2012. Tickets for the Grand Prix are expected to go on sale within the next few weeks. Antonio Garcia tests positive for COVID-19 during Rolex 24
General Motors did not announce the Spaniard had tested positive until after the race ended Sunday at Daytona International Speedway. “While Antonio Garcia tested negative in preparation for his arrival for the Rolex 24, we have received notice that he has now tested positive in preparation to depart the country.”GM said it pulled Garcia from the race Sunday morning. He had driven nearly eight hours before GM learned he'd tested positive. AdGarcia was the second driver to test positive for COVID-19 during the Rolex weekend. Mathieu Jaminet was replaced by RWR Eurasia last week when he tested positive, and Black Swan Racing withdrew from the race after team owner/driver Tim Pappas tested positive.

Magnussen to race American sports cars for Ganassi in 2021
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Formula One driver Kevin Magnussen will move to the IMSA sports car series in 2021 driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. “If you are in professional racing anywhere in the world, you know the name Chip Ganassi and what it represents in motorsports,” Magnussen said. Van der Zande is a two-time Rolex 24 at Daytona winner, most recently in January when teamed with Ganassi driver Scott Dixon. Lineups for the 2021 IMSA season are rapidly coming together with a flurry of announcements over the last week. “We have not been shy about our attack on the IMSA GTD championship for 2021,” team co-owner Jimmy Vasser said.

Detroit Grand Prix will return to Belle Isle for two race weekends in 2021
DETROIT – The Detroit Grand Prix will return to Belle Isle for two weekends of racing in 2021. The two IndyCar races will be shown on NBC network TV. The 2020 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The race on Belle Isle had been scheduled for the weekend of May 29-31.
