2 killed in Detroit house fire believed to be caused by space heaters
DETROIT – Fire crews believe space heaters were the cause of a fatal house fire Saturday morning in Detroit. According to authorities, the bodies of two men were found in a bedroom in a home on Lauder Street, near the intersection of Hubbell and Fenkell avenues. The Detroit Fire Department said several space heaters were found in the home and they believe the propane and kerosene heaters were being misused. Woman killed, man injured in early morning shooting in a Detroit home
DETROIT – A woman was killed and a man was injured in a shooting early Friday morning in Detroit. The shooting happened at a home in the 14300 block of Lauder Street in Detroit at 1:30 a.m.Police said a woman in her 30′s was shot in the neck and pronounced dead on the scene. A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg and is in stable condition. A 29-year-old woman who does not live at the home is in custody, police said. One weapon was found inside the home and another was found inside a vehicle parked outside, police said.
Shooting victim found on Detroit street hospitalized in critical condition
DETROIT – On Memorial Day a 39-year-old man was spotted on the ground shot several times at 12:40 a.m. in the 8200 block of Lauder Street in Detroit, police say. Gunfire was heard in the area before the victim was found. He is hospitalized in critical condition. No one is in police custody and the motive behind the shooting is unknown. Detroit woman beaten by rock-wielding man who used to shovel her snow, police say
DETROIT – A 72-year-old Detroit woman was beaten with a rock by a man who knew her from shoveling her snow, police said. Lacey knew the woman because he had shoveled her snow in the past, officials said. When officers arrived, they found a bloody scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. Lacey was charged Saturday with carjacking, assault with intent to murder, unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle and third-degree fleeing and eluding police. A probable cause conference is scheduled for Feb. 19, and a preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 26.
72-year-old Detroit woman says man shoveled snow from her driveway and then assaulted her
DETROIT – A 72-year-old woman said a man shoveled the snow off her driveway and then assaulted her, according to police. Police said the woman told them she initially refused service, but the man did end up shoveling her snow. After the man shoveled the snow he assaulted her and stole her vehicle, a black Chrysler 200. Police responded to the scene and located the suspect and her vehicle. The woman was transported to a hospital where police said she is in stable condition.

According to authorities, Elaine Sparks was last seen leaving a residence in the 16000 block of Lauder Street in her white SUV.
