The Wolverines are coming off a big win over their archrival. He’ll be leaned on more this time around, similar to how he was against Ohio State last week. Michigan will likely need more production from the passing game, which took a huge step forward last week in the win over Ohio State. Eight players from the University of Michigan have earned invites to the NFL’s annual scouting combine in Indianapolis. It can be an exhausting week for players, but an important one that helps solidify or impact a player’s draft stock. He currently projects as a late-Day 1 or early-Day 2 pick, and his performance in Indianapolis could help sway NFL teams. Both players got plenty of experience at Michigan, and won a lot of games, which isn’t lost on NFL teams looking for plug-and-play special teams contributors. The only Michigan player to declare for the NFL draft and not receive a combine invite was receiver Daylen Baldwin, the transfer from Jackson State.

In what seemed like a long shot entering Saturday, Michigan will play Iowa for a Big Ten football championship next weekend (Dec. 4). Michigan pulled off an upset on Saturday at Michigan Stadium, topping archrival Ohio State 42-27 to win the East Division with an 8-1 mark (10-1 overall). That means Michigan State will essentially stay in a hotel for three days until it learns its NCAA Tournament fate. Michigan State can also boast a schedule that as of Thursday was ranked the No. Duke withdrawing from the ACC tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test likely takes the Blue Devils out of NCAA Tournament consideration. And after its tournament-opening loss, Michigan State will be confined to watching in a hotel.

Local leaders have spent two months scrambling to accommodate the NCAA, which announced last month that all 67 men's tourney games will be played in Indianapolis and its surrounding communities.

Top prospect Makur Maker was limited to 23 points in 48 minutes over just two games during his freshman season. ___The NFL reports it had no positive tests for players and one positive among other personnel during Super Bowl week. It’s the 34th game postponed so far this season, which is roughly a quarter of the way through. ___Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington has tested positive for the coronavirus and has withdrawn from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Three staff members and one management official have also tested positive at the club.

A month after the NCAA announced the entire men’s basketball tournament would be held in Indiana, it appears the Big Ten Tournament is heading there too. It was originally scheduled for Chicago, starting on March 10 and culminating with the championship on March 14, the same day the field for the NCAA Tournament is announced. In all but two instances, the Big Ten Tournament has taken place in either Chicago or Indianapolis since its inception in 1998. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said recently that decision makers have discussed the viability of conference tournaments this season. Michigan and Michigan State have won the last four completed Big Ten Tournaments.

There could still be exceptions, mainly to avoid repetitive matchups of conference teams who played each other during the regular season. But in general, the committee will put the top four overall seeds in separate sections of the bracket, with the No. 1 overall seed in the same section with the No. 8 overall seed, the top No. 7 overall seed and the same approach for 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5.
