Many Michigan residents still vote in-person for primary
NOVI, Mich. More than 1 million Michigan voters have cast absentee ballots in the states primary election. But there were still those who chose to vote in-person on Tuesday, including Irma Ramirez. The primary features several races in which nominees will be chosen for U.S. House and statehouse seats in races that will be decided in November. Still, Suggs said she felt safe while voting. Michigan Secretary of State addresses concerns ahead of primary election
DETROIT Michigans Secretary of State said her team is ready for Tuesdays primary election, but she admitted there will be some challenges. The Michigan Primary Election is a major test as residents look forward to the general election in November. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said her team is prepared for the challenges ahead. Benson is hopeful Tuesdays primary will go according to plan. The numbers are huge and the work ahead for clerks and staff members will be difficult as counting gets underway.

COVID-19 creates spike in absentee ballot requests ahead of Michigan Primary Election
DETROIT Tuesday is Michigan Primary Day, and more than 1 million people have already handed in their ballots. One reason is the sheer number of absentee voters. Mark Center was one of the many people handing in his absentee ballot in Downtown Royal Oak. While absentee ballots have been an option for years, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created the spike in requests. There were more than 2 million requests for absentee ballots for this primary, and 1.2 million have been returned so far.
