We all know that October is associated with candy because of trick-or-treating, but this month is also big for one more thing - pizza! It’s National Pizza Month and, just like toppings, there are so many things to discuss. For Live In The D’s What’s the Buzz, we stuck to the basics - pepperoni.

Rochester – Whether you try their delicious, homemade, seafood linguine, or there perfectly crispy grilled chicken pizza you will have no doubts that they know what they are doing here at D’Marcos Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar. Mark Mendola’s family has been in the restaurant industry for almost 100 years, opening their first restaurant in Pennsylvania in the 1930s. Mark grew up in the Rochester area and wanted to open up a restaurant in downtown Rochester. After lots of renovations, in 2018, he opened D’Marcos Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar, a nod to his mother who always called him Marco growing up. If you would like to check out D’Marcos Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar it is located at 401 S Main Street, in downtown Rochester.

Since October is National Pizza Month, and National Pasta Month, we are checking out a mom and pop restaurant that is serving up great pizzas and more for dine-in or curbside delivery. The Alibi restaurant in Troy is family-owned, and Cindy Maier, one of the owners, joined host Tati Amare to discuss what they have to offer. Pizza is their most popular menu item, and it is no wonder, with them hand-tossing the dough and making everything from scratch. Halloween is one of their biggest carry-out days of the year and Maier predicts they will send out over 1,000 pizzas. All of October is National Pizza Month so to celebrate for Dine in the D we wanted to go someplace special, and for our movie reviewer, Greg Russell, Brass Rail in Downtown Detroit takes the slice. Now, if the name "Brass Rail" sounds familiar to you, it's probably because it is. They had three locations throughout the city, one of them being in the same building as the current Brass Rail. Brass Rail Pizza Bar serves up a variety of different pizzas, including several specialty pizzas like their popular "Wakey Wakey," which features steak, breakfast potatoes, bacon, and eggs. People love setting pizza recordsGuinness World Records has recorded an seemingly endless list of pizza records. In 2016, the General Manager of Pizza Hut Africa, Randall Blackford, and a group of employees, led by experienced guides, trekked to the summit of Kilimanjaro with a pepperoni pizza in tow. The feat was undertaken to mark the opening of the first Pizza Hut in Tanzania and the 100th country in which the company had launched a restaurant.
