As we continue to celebrate Black History month, we want to introduce you to a restaurant that’s been popular in Detroit for a long while. It’s known for providing good music, a fun atmosphere, and some mouth-watering soul food. We’re talking about Flood’s Bar and Grille in downtown Detroit.

A family-owned soul food restaurant in Detroit is expanding with the help of the Motor City Match program. Detroit Soul has received a $60,000 grant that will help the business open a second location in the city.

The pandemic pushed the owner of Steve’s Soul Food to change his business model to keep the grill going.

Detroit June is National Soul Food Month, so for Take-Out Tuesday were going to a place that has soul in its name, Detroit Soul. Detroit Soul is located on 8 Mile Road between Dequindre and Ryan. Jerome and his brother opened Detroit Soul 5 years ago, making soul food with a healthier twist. Its truly a labor of love when you talk about soul food, says Jerome.
