I-75 will be closed in both directions in Oakland County this weekend for a planned bridge demolition.

Major closures are scheduled for I-696 and I-96 this weekend as part of ongoing projects.

The I-696 “Restore the Reuther” Rebuilding Michigan project and the I-96 Flex Route project from US-24 to Beck Road will begin construction with repairs on the westbound side of both freeways.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is removing lane restrictions on more than 63% of its road and bridge projects across the state to ease traffic delays for Memorial Day weekend travel.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A box truck driver was killed in a crash Friday morning along northbound I-75 near Rattalee Lake Road in Springfield Township. Michigan State Police said a vehicle stopped on the roadway in the right lane and noticed a large box truck traveling slowly behind her with its hazard lights on. The large box truck rear ended her car. However, the large box truck, now stopped in the lane, was then rear ended by a smaller box truck. There was no one hurt in the large box truck, but he driver of the smaller box truck was pronounced dead on the scene, state police said.

Northbound Middle Belt Road and the ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed for bridge and railing work. The detour includes eastbound Wick Road to northbound Inkster Road, then westbound Ecorse Road to Middle Belt Road. Bridge work includes epoxy overlay, beam repair, rail patching, substructure replacement and repair, and deck patching.
