Man charged in connection with Greektown shooting
A Farmington man has been charged in connection with a shooting that injured three people at the corner of Beaubian and Monroe streets in Greektown.
Delano R. Ward, 26, was taken into custody Wednesday in Oak Park, police said. He was the second person arrested in connection with the shooting, and police said they were still searching for two others.
Remembering U.S. Judge Damon J. Keith
The United States Senate adopted a resolution Friday honoring the life and work of U.S. Sixth Circuit Court Judge Damon Jerome Keith.
Keith was an influential figure and champion for civil rights and justice. He died April 28 at the age of 96.
Man kills 2, planned to kill more
A 26-year-old mid-Michigan man killed two women, intended to kill two more and texted a former girlfriend that he “had been ridding the demons of some dear friends of his,” authorities said Friday.
Police found the bodies in separate locations after the man showed Eaton County sheriff’s deputies cellphone photos of the bodies following a traffic stop on Interstate 69, about 108 miles northwest of Detroit.
Snow days
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signed a bill to forgive four additional snow days for the 2018-19 school year.
Whitmer signed House Bill 4206 after schools across the state dealt with extremely cold temperatures during the year. The temperatures prompted a state of emergency in Michigan.
