DETROIT – Detroit police have located the person suspected of killing a longtime maintenance worker at the Normandie Hotel in Detroit, according to authorities.

A 46-year-old man was shot and killed around 11:20 a.m. Monday (March 14) at the hotel, which is located in the 11600 block of Woodward Avenue.

Witnesses told Local 4 they believe another tenant shot and killed the beloved maintenance worker.

“I knew him and everything,” one resident said. “He was a good guy.”

“He was a good man,” another resident said. “He ran the building -- nicest guy you could want to meet.”

Detroit police named Jmar Tubbs, 25, a suspect in the homicide. He was located Tuesday morning, they said.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detroit police at 313-596-2260, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP to remain anonymous.
