Thousands pack congregation in Southfield to pledge support for Israel, Jewish community

$1.5 million has been raised in 24 hours

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Thousands of Metro Detroit Jews packed Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield to hear from the Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit on what’s being done to aid Israel.

Already, $1.5 million has been raised in 24 hours. The federation expects to raise far more in the coming days.

It also allowed the Jewish community to see which elected leaders stand with Israel.

An initial post on X over the weekend from Whitmer was roundly castigated for failing to address the Hamas attack as terrorism.
