Investment totaling $7.1 million to bring 266 new jobs to Ann Arbor area
Two companies will soon bring 266 new jobs to the Ann Arbor area. ANN ARBOR โ Two major projects will bring well-paying jobs and new investments to the Ann Arbor area, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced on Tuesday. Homepoint, a national mortgage lender, will also be expanding in Ann Arbor with plans to add 155 area jobs. Homepoint is looking to create 155 new jobs and generate an additional private investment of $3.7 million by adding an operations center in Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor SPARK is supporting the company with resources and staff time.
Ann Arbor firefighters respond to massive house fire over weekend
ANN ARBOR โ Members of the Ann Arbor Fire Department responded to a house fire on Saturday just after 8:30 a.m. According to a Facebook post by the department, the firefighters battled a blaze on Miller Ave. just east of M-14. A second alarm brought in fire departments from Pittsfield Township, Scio Township, Saline Area and Ann Arbor Township. Ann Arbor Police Department, Huron Valley Ambulance and Helping Area Response Teams provided assistance on the scene. This is the third second alarm structure fire in Ann Arbor in 2020.

Submit questions, participate in public Q&A session on Gelman 1,4-Dioxane litigation
ANN ARBOR โ Local and federal officials will hold a joint public session via Zoom on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. to answer questions residents have about the Gelman dioxane plume and ongoing litigation. Trustees of Scio and Ann Arbor townships and heads of the Huron River Watershed Council have been invited to take part in the session. The plume is a toxic pollution by chemical plant Gelman Sciences in Scio Township thatโs been seeping into the areaโs soil and groundwater since the late 1960s. Trace levels of the chemical have been detected in the city Ann Arborโs drinking water supply from Barton Pond starting in Feb. 2019. 81-year-old man killed in head-on crash in Ann Arbor Township
ANN ARBOR โ An 81-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash in the area of Clark Rd. and Hogback Rd., according to local police. He has been identified as Francis Kimball from Ypsilanti Township. On Sunday at approximately 12:59 p.m., deputies responded to the two-vehicle head-on crash in Ann Arbor Township. The drivers were traveling in opposite directions on Hogback Rd.
Police locate 33-year-old woman reported missing out of Ann Arbor Township
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ The Washtenaw County Sheriffโs Office announced Thursday that deputies were searching for a 33-year-old woman who went missing in the area of Whimore Lake Road and Joy Road in Ann Arbor Township. The woman has since been found safe.
Stretch of Barton Drive closed in Ann Arbor due to abandoned house fire
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ Barton Drive is closed between Pontiac Trail and M-14 while firefighters respond to an abandoned house fire. City of Ann Arbor officials said the stretch of road is expected to be closed for several hours on Friday while Ann Arbor firefighters are on scene helping Ann Arbor Township firefighters.
