Video shows Michigan State University police captain arrested for drunk driving
Authorities said a Michigan State University police captain had a blood alcohol level of 0.25 when she was arrested for drunk driving. Valerie O’Brien was arrested on Feb. 10 after a Michigan State Police trooper pulled her over just off Interstate 96 west of Lansing. A video shows O’Brien yelling at the trooper that she was going to sue him. WILX-TV, which first obtained the video, reported that O’Brien is on paid leave since her arrest. 3 dead after shooting on I-96 in Detroit
DETROIT – Michigan State Police are investigating a deadly freeway shooting on I-96 Express near Schaefer Highway and Grand River Avenue in Detroit. UPDATE: 3 dead after shooting on I-96 in Detroit: What we knowState police shut down both the eastbound and westbound express lanes of the freeway for several hours before reopening just before 4 a.m. Tuesday. Police said they started receiving reports of two cars shooting at each other on the freeway just after 10 p.m. Monday. A female in the vehicle was also shot and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Oakland County deputy shot at on I-96 in Livonia, sheriff says
LIVONIA, Mich. – A deputy with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was shot at on Interstate 96 in the Livonia area Saturday night, Sheriff Mike Bouchard said in a tweet Sunday afternoon. “Last night, one of our deputies was traveling at approximately 2000 hours, between Merriman and Farmington Road exit. Police: Shots fired at man driving on Southfield Freeway
DETROIT – Traffic on Interstate 96 was shut down for hours Tuesday afternoon as Michigan State Police tried to piece together a shooting on the freeway near Greenfield Road. A jeep that was struck in the shooting received damage to its back window, driver’s side window and door and one of the tires. Sources said the man driving the jeep told police he was shot at while driving on the Southfield Freeway north of Joy Road, which lead police to shut down the lanes Tuesday night and start walking the freeway looking for shell casings. Police sources said after the man was shot at, he pulled over near I-96 and Greenfield and called a family member to come and get him. It is unknown what led to the shooting.
Driver killed in I-96 rollover crash in Detroit
DETROIT – Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal single car crash that killed a 22-year-old man in Detroit on Saturday. Police say around 4 p.m. the Detroit man was traveling westbound at a high speed on the I-96 local lanes exit to Grand River Avenue and Schaefer Highway when he lost control of the vehicle. The man hit the wall at the base of the ramp and then rolled down the freeway, officials said. According to police the man was ejected from the vehicle. Officials say excessive speed and failure to wear a seatbelt are factors in the single car crash.
