A man who chased some acquaintances with a hatchet outside of a Troy gym told police that he was looking for someone who had threatened him, and he accidentally targeted the wrong person.

A Troy woman’s breath test revealed she was driving with a blood-alcohol content more than four times the legal limit on St. Patrick’s Day, according to police.

A Troy man shot his wife and killed his daughter inside a condo before fatally shooting himself as police approached his vehicle, officials said.

Construction has been stalled on Adams Road between Square Lake and Long Lake roads and the county is calling out the contractor that was hired to do the job.

Northbound Orchard Lake Road between Long Lake Road and Indian Trail in West Bloomfield Township will be closed Thursday and Friday for guardrail replacement.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. Consumers Energy has closed Squirrel Road between Long Lake Road and Highwood Drive in Bloomfield Township due to a gas leak. Officials suggest using Wattles Road to Adams Road, back to Long Lake Road and vice versa as a detour. The road is expected to reopen to traffic late on Saturday.

WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – One driver was killed and another was injured Friday in a head-on collision on Middlebelt Road in West Bloomfield Township, police said. The crash happened around 11 a.m. Friday on Middlebelt Road just north of Long Lake Road, according to authorities. Police said a 73-year-old man was driving south on Middlebelt Road when he crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head-on. The 73-year-old was transported in critical condition and pronounced dead at the hospital. Middlebelt Road was closed between Shore Hill Drive and Long Lake Road, but it has since reopened.

Crews will also close the ramp from westbound I-696 to southbound I-75, the ramp from southbound I-75 to Eight Mile Road, the ramp from southbound I-75 to Nine Mile Road and the Nine Mile Road entrance ramp to southbound I-75. Workers will construct temporary median crossovers, remove the Dallas Road overpass above I-75 and work on the northbound service drive. In 2020, all I-75 traffic will be on the southbound side of the freeway between 11 Mile and Eight Mile roads.

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced crews will intermittently close northbound I-75 for 15-minute periods during the overnight hours on Thursday, Aug. 15. Northbound I-75 will have intermittent 15-minute full closures at Long Lake Road overnight on Thursday, Aug. 15. The intermittent closures will occur at Long Lake Road for setting new bridge beams, MDOT said. The intermittent northbound closures will begin at 10 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. the following morning. Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, both directions of Rochester Road will be closed under I-75 for the demolition of the northbound I-75 bridge over Rochester Road.
