Harper Food Center, located near the intersection of Harper Avenue and Newport Street, was completely destroyed in a fire Saturday night. Large flames and heavy smoke poured out of the only full-service grocery store in the community. 4 in police custody following barricaded gunman situation on Detroitโs east side
DETROIT โ Police have taken four people into custody on Wednesday afternoon following a barricaded gunman situation that occurred on Detroitโs east side. Detroit police say four people were inside a home with a barricaded gunman in the area of Wilshire Drive and Newport Street, near Outer Drive and Chalmers Street on Dec. 16. The situation has resolved as of 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, officials say. The four individuals inside the home have been taken into custody for questioning, police said. No additional details have been provided at this time.
