The remains of a Confederate general unearthed from beneath a monument at the center of a Virginia intersection have been reinterred at a cemetery in his hometown. Last month, Richmond, which served as the Confederacy’s capital for most of the Civil War, removed the statue of Confederate Gen. A.P. Hill and the general's remains buried beneath after a court battle. On Saturday, hundreds of people, including Confederate reenactors, gathered to pay their respects to the general at a ceremony in Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, Hill’s hometown, The Free Lance-Star reported.

The first threat was received on Tuesday, Jan. 3 when staff returned to their classrooms following the Winter Break. An anti-Semitic threat was found that day, directed at the Dean of Middle School students and his family. The dean eventually decided to resign from his post following the threat, despite having just started working in the district in December. In the case of the threat against the dean, the threat was discovered last week when teachers returned to school from Winter Break. Although the discovery of the first threat led the district to close for the remainder of last week, Walmsley said classes would continue as planned this week. Officers with the Richmond Police Department will be working at all district buildings during school hours this week, Walmsley said.
