2 killed in fiery truck crash near Detroit
ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI -- A head-on crash with a freeway support column left two people dead in St. Clair Shores Saturday morning, police said. At about 2:55 a.m. Oct. 1, Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to the area of the eastbound I-94 freeway near Stephens Road in St. Clair Shores for a reported vehicle crash. A Ford F-150 truck was heading eastbound on I-94 when the driver began gradually leaving the roadway to the right, police said. The truck was driven up a roadside embankment before it hit the Stephens Road overpass support column head-on, police said. The vehicle caught fire soon after, as two occupants were trapped inside, police said.

WARREN, MI – A major train derailment has created a traffic jam in Warren, mayor Jim Fouts said on Thursday morning. Railroad cars are stacked up between Bunert Road and 9 Mile, Fouts said. Three of the 12 derailed cars were tankers cars containing liquid chlorine and unrefined alcohol, but no leak is detected and there is no threat to public safety, Fouts said. “The tanker cars are upright so no threat to public safety,” Fouts said. “Great quick response by the Warren Fire Department!
