Westland police locate children taken by mother from aunt’s house
WESTLAND, Mich. – Westland police have located two young children who officials believe were taken by their mother from their aunt’s house, officials said. The children are safe. The mother was accused of taking the children in a white Buick sedan, authorities said. Anyone who has seen the children or has information on their whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Westland police at 734-722-9600.

Westland police investigate deadly stabbing
WESTLAND, Mich. – Westland police are investigating a deadly stabbing Tuesday morning. Westland police release video of violent arrest of man with autism
WESTLAND, Mich. Police released video of a confrontation that led to the firing of a Westland Police Department officer and an investigation by the prosecutors office. Officers were trying to arrest a man with autism who was suspected to be connected to an armed robbery. While the incident and the officers firing happened months ago, Westland police said they released the video from the arrest in order to be transparent while the investigation continues. Police dash camera footage shows the officer chasing the man with his weapon drawn. Westland police chief Jeff Jedrusik said, in part, We are dedicated to the departments polices, training curriculum and to maintaining our communitys trust.
Westland police charge 3 in connection with fatal shooting of 17-year-old bicyclist
WESTLAND, Mich. – Westland police have charged three people in connection with the death of a Novi teenager who was shot while riding his bicycle. Jones-Moody is charged with accessory after the fact to a felony and one felony firearm violation. She’s being held in lieu of $75,000 bail and has to wear a GPS tether if released. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail and will have to wear a GPS tether if released. All three are scheduled to return to 18th District Court on June 18 for a probable cause conference.
Police seek men who stole jewelry from Westland Mall Sears store
WESTLAND, Mich. – Two men reached behind the jewelry counter at the Westland Mall Sears and stole items Feb. 3, police said. They both reached behind the counter, got into the display cases and took items that they put into their pockets. He stands about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 180-200 pounds. He is about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs around 150-180 pounds. Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the men is asked to contact police at 734-467-3250.
