Detroit police search for gunmen who shot couple to death at gas station

DETROIT – Police have arrested two people in connection with the ambush and murder of a young couple who were sitting in their car with a 9-month-old child at a Detroit gas station.

The shooting happened around 8:40 p.m. Monday (Oct. 18) at the Marathon gas station on West Warren Avenue near the Southfield Freeway on Detroit’s west side, according to authorities.

Detroit police released video that shows two men ambushing Marshae Nash, 21, and her boyfriend, Benson Lindsey, 22, who were sitting inside a car at a gas pump.

On Wednesday afternoon, authorities announced they have two people in custody. A weapon was also recovered, officials said.

The couple’s 9-month-old son, Braylon, was also in the car at the time, but he was not harmed.

Police said the couple had their second child one month ago: a daughter who was born prematurely and is still in the hospital.
