St. Clair County man accused of fabricating story about home intruder, trying to kill wife faces examination
ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MI – A preliminary exam is scheduled in the case of a man police say lied to them about someone breaking into his home and trying to shoot his wife in order to cover up his own failed attempt at killing her. Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3 a.m. on March 29 to Ringel’s Casco Township home following reports of a home invasion, police previously said. When the man tried to shoot the woman but missed, she was able to shut the door on the gun barrel, keeping the man from entering the room. Ringel remains lodged in the St. Clair County Jail ahead of his future court proceedings. Police have identified a motorcyclist who died after hitting a deer Saturday evening in Casco Township. Jace Paul Singh, a 22-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries in the crash that happened about 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, in the area of 109th Avenue and 66th Street, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. A preliminary investigation showed the rider hit a deer while traveling east on 109th and sustained fatal injuries, according to the release. The crash remains under investigation. 1 dead after multi-vehicle crash in St. Clair County
CASCO TOWNSHIP, MI -- A 58-year-old Lenox Township man died in a three-vehicle crash in St. Clair County’s Casco Township Sunday, according to police. Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office were called shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6, to the 9900 block of Marine City Highway for an injury accident. The Nisan spun into the westbound lane and was hit by a 2011 Dodge Avenger driven by a 26-year-old man from Flint. The 58-year-old Lenox Township man was pronounced dead at the scene. Nadine Moses, 84, left her residence in St. Clair County’s Casco Township on May 4, driving her 2011 dark blue Ford Edge, according to a Monday, May 10 Michigan State Police Endangered Missing Advisory. Moses’ family has been unable to contact her, the advisory states. She has a Michigan handicapped license plate, with plate number C8932. MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Officials are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Macomb County. Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to Hall Road and Gratiot Avenue on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. for the report of a crash. Police said Reed Styers, 61, of Harrison Township was killed in the crash. Driver critically injured after crash north of South Haven
ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI -- A person was critically injured late Friday, Jan. 15 in a rollover crash on Blue Star Highway just north of South Haven, police said. The crash was reported just before midnight. Allegan County sheriff’s deputies said it appeared a vehicle was going north on Blue Star Highway near North Shore Drive in Casco Township when it went into the median, struck a sign and rolled. The driver was ejected from the vehicle, police said. The driver was taken to an area hospital in what police said was critical condition.mlive.com

Teen in critical condition after crash in St. Clair County
ST CLAIR COUNTY, MI – A 16-year-old male is in critical condition after a crash Thursday afternoon. The 16-year-old Casco Township boy was driving a 2000 GMC Sierra west on Puttygut Road near Mayer Road around 2 p.m., Sept. 24, a news release from the St Clair County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he’s in critical condition. A 15-year-old passenger from China Township had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, police said. The St. Clair County Accident Reconstruction Team is working on the investigation.mlive.com
Man, 6-year-old child injured in paraglider crash in Casco Township
CASCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. A man and a 6-year-old child have been injured in a paraglider crash that occurred Tuesday evening. The St. Clair County Sheriffs Office says at about 7:30 p.m. the 69-year-old man, of Clay Township, took off from a residence in a paraglider with a 6-year-old passenger in the 5600 block of Palms Road. Officials say the paraglider did not gain altitude quickly enough and struck high tension power lines, which caused the paraglider to fall to the ground. Both passengers were transported to the hospital. Their injuries and conditions have not yet been released.
Reward offered for information after lasers pointed at helicopters from Selfridge in Macomb County
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A reward for information is offered after lasers were pointed at two Selfridge-based helicopters while they were flying in St. Clair County and Macomb County. The crews of both helicopters safely landed at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coast Guard Investigative Service’s CGIS TIPS app, available free on Apple’s app store and Google Play. Officials are also seeking information about a laser that was pointed at a Coast Guard helicopter in Chesterfield Township on March 17. Officials noted that if a Coast Guard helicopter is on a rescue mission and a member of the aircrew is compromised by lasers, the mission must be aborted.
25-year-old bicyclist struck by car, killed in Macomb County
(WDIV)LENOX TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A 25-year-old bicyclist was struck by a car and killed Thursday while riding during the early morning hours in Macomb County. Lawton Monroe, of Casco Township, was biking around 5:20 a.m. Thursday on County Line Road near 27 Mile Road, police said. Monroe and a silver 2005 Mercury Sable were both going south on County Line Road when the car struck him, according to authorities. When Macomb County deputies arrived at the scene, Monroe was pronounced dead. Macomb County officials are still investigating the crash.
