CANTON – A 14-year-old girl has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Feb. 21 death of Cynthia Mosby. According to authorities, Mosby, 65, was the girl’s grandmother and had custody of the teen. The father of the suspect, whose mother was killed, said he’s still trying to wrap his head around the situation. Mosby’s death shocked the quiet Canton neighborhood, where she lived for more than 20 years. Police said they located the 14-year-old girl at a hotel Monday in Southgate.
Man charged with murder after woman’s body discovered in Detroit alley
DETROIT – A 43-year-old man is facing several charges for allegedly shooting and killing a woman, whose body was found in a Detroit alley in November. John Baldwin, of Detroit, was charged on Nov. 28 in connection with the homicide of Sarita Rebekah Neal, 41, also from Detroit. John E. Baldwin (Detroit Police Department)On the morning of Nov. 13, Detroit police found Neal’s body in an alley in the area of Schoenherr and Lappin streets. Officials said the woman was transported to a medical examiner, who determined Neal died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Officials say Baldwin allegedly fatally shot the victim, transported her remains to the Detroit alley in a car and later set that car on fire at another location.
Detroit man charged with shooting, killing 16-year-old girl amid alleged argument
DETROIT – A 22-year-old Detroit man has been charged with fatally shooting a 16-year-old girl during an alleged argument on Sunday. Officials say an argument arose when Reeves arrived at the residence to pick up his daughter from her mother. Officials say the victim was the step-sister of the child’s mother. Reeves reportedly fled the scene following the shooting, but was later apprehended by Detroit police. A 32-year-old woman was also arrested on Monday in connection with the shooting, though it is unclear what her role in the incident was.
Memorial held for 6-year-old boy killed in grizzly triple-homicide in Warren
DETROIT – Tai’raz Moore and his father’s girlfriend, Isis Rimson, were killed execution-style in the basement of a Warren house Oct. 1. Tai’raz’s family said the 6-year-old had a magnetic personality. It was Tai’raz’s aunt who sought to bring the happiness to this affair as she believed Tai’raz himself would have. Community activist Malik Shabazz of the New Marcus Garvey Movement decried the violence that took Tai’raz’s life. We have to love our way out of the abnormal becoming normal, out of the unthinkable becoming doable," Shabazz told the crowd.
West Bloomfield man charged in execution-style killings has long criminal history
Nicholas Bahri, 37, of West Bloomfield township, was arraigned Tuesday on 15 charges in the execution-style killings of a 6-year-old boy, the boy’s father and his father’s girlfriend. Prior to the recent killings, Bahri had developed an extensive criminal history and was released from prison just months ago. “I don’t think that anyone looking at the (criminal) history could forecast the crimes (Bahri) has been accused of, and possibly committed here,” said Local 4′s legal analyst Neil Rockind. Rockind says there are peculiar clues about Bahri’s criminal history. “(Bahri’s criminal record) shows someone who is sick, demented and who has really forfeited their right to to interact with the rest of us,” Rockind said.
