The horse pulling the buggy is also suffered minor injuries and is being treated by a horse clinic nearby the accident site. The matter is still under investigation by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office, which is awaiting further updates on the two injured in the buggy.

BAY CITY, MI — Driving a truck with an out-of-state plate, a drunken woman blew through two red lights and caused two crashes on Bay City’s West Side. Shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, a 39-year-old woman was driving a white GMC pickup south on South Henry Street when she ran the red light at Jenny Street. She collided with a white Honda Accord containing two Saginaw residents, said Bay City Public Safety Capt. The truck the woman was driving had a Wyoming license plate and she gave police a Wyoming identification card, though she also said she lived at a residence in Bay City, Webster said. The driver of the black GMC pickup that struck the suspect’s truck, a 45-year-old Bay City woman, sought treatment for non-serious injuries.

As part of the deal, GM and SolidEnergy Systems plan to build a prototype production line in Woburn, Massachusetts, for a "high-capacity, pre-production battery by 2023." GM previously announced the second-generation of its EV batteries and platform, known as Ultium, would reduce costs from today's EVs, such as the Chevrolet Bolt EV, by 60% by mid-decade. "The Ultium platform was actually designed and built with change like this in mind," Kent Helfrich, GM's executive director of global electrification and battery systems, told CNBC. "We know battery technology changes really fast … so we had to build that type of flexibility and bandwidth into our platform." GM's venture capital arm initially invested an undisclosed amount in SolidEnergy Systems in 2015.

Through their Ultium Cells LLC joint venture, GM and LG are currently spending $2.3 billion for a new battery cell plant in Ohio. The plant is expected to be completed in 2022, allowing the automaker to lower costs and bring vehicles to market more quickly. GM is expected to release 20 new or redesigned EVs as part of its $27 billion investment plan from 2020 through 2025. The first vehicles are not expected to include Ultium battery cells from the plant that's currently under construction. Outgoing GM Chief Sustainability Officer Dane Parker last year said the automaker would need to make more investment in battery production capacity.

CLAIR, MI -- A newly created entity of Magna International Inc., plans to build a new 345,000-square-foot facility in the city of St. Clair to produce battery enclosures for the new 2022 GMC Hummer EV and the state has awarded the project a $1.5-million grant. The Michigan Strategic Fund board approved the grant, which will be awarded over time as jobs are created, during a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 23. The once-popular SUV was removed from the GM lineup in 2009 following declining sales and negative public feedback about lower gas mileage averages. Magna International is breaking ground on a $70 million manufacturing facility in St. Clair, Mich. where it plans to build complex battery enclosures for the all-new 2022 GMC Hummer EV. This investment is expected to create 304 jobs in St. Clair over the next five years. AdIn St. Clair, Magna said it plans to construct a 345,000-square-foot facility with the ability to support an expansion of up to 1,000,000 square feet. AdMeanwhile, it was announced earlier this year that the Hummer EV would be built under the GMC brand name at GM’s “Factory Zero” facility at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. That was announced right after GM said it would invest more than $2 billion in Detroit to manufacture electric vehicles.

The company plans to use 100% renewable energy to power its U.S. facilities by 2030 and global facilities by 2035 — five years ahead of a previously announced goal. For several years, GM has touted a guiding "triple zero vision," including a future with zero emissions through electric vehicles, but it never announced a time frame. Electric vehicles, including battery-electric and fuel cell-powered vehicles, are currently a niche segment of the global automotive industry, estimated at less than 5% of sales by analysts. Dane Parker, GM chief sustainability officer, reiterated that the company plans to be profitable in its transition from vehicles with traditional internal combustion engines to EVs. GM has already announced plans to shift three of its U.S. plants to produce electric vehicles.
