2 workers injured at Little Caesars Arena due to ammonia leak, building evacuated
DETROIT -- Two men in their 20s suffered minor chemical burns Thursday after they were exposed to an ammonia leak inside Little Caesars Arena. According to the Associated Press, the leak started in the arena’s basement and led to the building being evacuated Thursday afternoon. “The leak was contained by us,” said James Harris, the chief of community relations and public information officer for the fire department.. “Little Caesars Arena did their due diligence. No events were scheduled at the arena Thursday, however WWE Smackdown is scheduled to take place at the arena tonight. Ammonia is used as a refrigerant, but can be harmful to people if they are exposed to it.

Other people talked about their experience with gun violence, both as a shooter and the one being shot at. After serving time in prison he turned his life around and works to educate people about gun violence. “We’re hoping we can educate ourselves … to end the gun violence,” he said.

DETROIT -- A fire truck responding to call for a fire was involved in a crash with a civilian vehicle Wednesday in Detroit. The truck was heading to a call on Riad when the accident occurred. The civilian vehicle sustained significant front-end damage in the crash and the Jaws of Life was needed to extract the passengers from inside. Two firefighters and two civilians were injured in the crash and six people in total were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.

KALAMAZOO, MI – Three marches against gun violence are planned in Kalamazoo this summer. Local churches and the non-profit Urban Alliance organized the marches because of the increase of gun violence in Kalamazoo, Trenches Community Church Pastor James Harris said in a news release. Urban Alliance works with the Group Violence Intervention team that partners with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and other community organizations to address gun violence. Plans to reduce gun violence in Kalamazoo will also be discussed. “We are coming together to take our city back and end gun violence,” Harris said.
