I-75 restoration to resume in Oakland County, close lanes through weekend
Road work on I-75 is resuming in Oakland County starting Friday and will close all freeway lanes between I-696 and Eight Mile Road over the weekend. When I-75 lanes reopen on March 1, only two lanes will be open in each direction from just south of Eight Mile Road to just north of 13 Mile Road, officials said. AdDuring the weekend road closure, I-75 traffic will be rerouted to the following:Northbound I-75 traffic will be detoured west on Eight Mile Road to northbound Woodward Avenue, then eastbound I-696 back to northbound I-75, andSouthbound I-75 traffic will be detoured to westbound I-696 to southbound Woodward Avenue, then eastbound Eight Mile Road back to southbound I-75. After the weekend closures, some lane and ramp closures will continue through the 2021 construction season in connection with the I-75 road work. Also after March 1, all southbound I-75 traffic will be shifted onto northbound lanes near 13 Mile Road to allow for crews to rebuild the southbound I-75 bridge over 13 Mile Road, officials said.
Fiery crash shuts down I-696 Sunday in Warren
What appeared to be a fiery crash shut down westbound lanes on I-696 in Warren on Sunday evening. As of 6 p.m. Sunday, emergency crews were responding to what appeared to be a car crash and a vehicle on fire. Westbound I-696 lanes were closed between Mound and Dequindre roads as of 6 p.m. No details about the apparent crash have been announced yet. I-75 to reopen lanes in December in Oakland County
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – I-75 in Oakland County has been full of orange barrels since March but now with vehicles traveling on the correct aide of the freeway, crews are gearing to wrap up for the winter. The project is right on schedule and all lanes are expected to be open by December. While it’s called a modernization project, it’s more than making the freeway look modern. After the seasonal shutdown, construction is scheduled to start back up in March, which is when they will work on the south side of I-75 from I-696 to Eight Mile Road. I-94 in Ypsilanti reopens after traffic incident causes closure
YSPILANTI, Mich. – The collision on eastbound I-94 in Ypsilanti has been cleared, authorities said. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area of eastbound I-94 near Huron Street due to a traffic incident. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office announced at 3:52 p.m. Saturday that all lanes are closed due to a traffic incident that occurred in the area. Alleged drunk driver collides with police SUV in Madison Heights
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – An alleged drunk driver in an SUV collided with a police vehicle in Madison Heights Tuesday night. The crash happened on the 12 Mile Road exit ramp from Interstate 75 northbound. Police said the driver who collided with the officer may have been drunk. The officer is OK, and the driver was taken to a hospital.
