DETROIT -- More than 500,000 heavy-duty Ram trucks have been recalled by Fiat-Chrysler over a problem with the lug nuts that can cause the wheels to fall off. According to the Associated Press, the company says specifications in some of the service and owner’s manuals had the wrong torque specifications. The company also says the wheels were tightened properly at the production facilities, so only trucks whose wheels have been removed for service are at risk. The recall impacts certain 2012 through 2021 Ram 3500 heavy-duty pickups, and Ram 4500 and 5500 cab-chassis, according to the AP. Those trucks have dual rear wheels and flanged lug nuts.mlive.com
Man dies in Lapeer County crash that shut down portion of M-24 for 8 hours
METAMORA TWP., MI -- A 34-year-old Millington man was killed in a crash that shut down a portion of M-24 in Lapeer County for eight hours Tuesday, police said. Metamora Township police responded shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, to a two-vehicle crash on M-24 (South Lapeer Road) near Brocker Road. The Dodge Ram then collided head-on into a 2015 Peterbilt water truck, police said. The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 34-year-old Millington man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Park outdoors: Ram recalls heavy-duty trucks for fire risk
DETROIT – The company that makes heavy-duty diesel Ram trucks is telling some owners to park them outdoors due to the risk of an engine fire. Fiat Chrysler, now part of Stellantis, is recalling just over 20,000 of the trucks mainly in the U.S. and Canada. The company says the 2021 pickup and chassis cab trucks have heater electrical relays that can short, overheat and in rare cases cause fires. None involved customer vehicles. The recalled trucks are equipped with 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engines.

The Environmental Protection Agency says the changes show that few automakers could meet what it called unrealistic emissions and mileage standards set by the Obama administration through the 2020 model year. The EPA report released Wednesday says gas mileage fell 0.2 miles per gallon for model year 2019, while greenhouse gas emissions rose by 3 grams per mile traveled, compared with 2018 figures. Mileage dropped to 24.9 miles per gallon while greenhouse gas emissions rose to 356 grams per mile, the report said. It was updated on Jan. 14, 2021, to correct the second paragraph to show that new vehicle gas mileage for 2019 decreased rather than increased.
Man injured in shooting near McNichols, Greenfield in Detroit
DETROIT – One man, listed in stable condition, was injured in a shooting Saturday night in the area of West McNichols and Greenfield roads, according to Detroit police. Police said the 39-year-old man was driving a gray Dodge Ram when someone inside a white truck fired shots. The victim drove himself to the hospital. This is an ongoing investigation. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles confirmed Monday that the Anchorage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership will no longer sponsor the race. A statement from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, or FCA, noted the parent company did not sponsor the Iditarod. Anchorage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Center an independently owned and operated dealership had been a sponsor of the race. As such, FCA and the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram logos will no longer be associated with the race, the statement said.
