Family seeking justice for 21-year-old shot, killed nearly two years ago in Detroit
DETROIT – A Detroit family is seeking justice nearly two years after a 21-year-old man was shot and killed. Dion Bridges was shot at a home on July 4, 2019, on Schoenherr Street near East Seven Road. Family members said Bridges was at a barbecue when someone started shooting from a nearby alley. Bridges’ mother Jerreece Bridges is asking anyone with information to come forward. The person out there who knows they did this, I don’t know how they can live with themselves,” Jerreece Bridges said.
Macomb County offers new COVID-19 vaccination site for seniors 60 and older
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Through a partnership with SMART, Macomb County is offering a new vaccination location in Sterling Heights. The vaccination site is at the Sterling Heights Senior Center on Utica Road, between Schoenherr and Van Dyke roads. It’s why the Macomb County Health Department partnered with SMART to help distribute the coronavirus vaccine. Macomb County executive Mark Hackel said the new site is currently dedicated to vaccinating Macomb County residents and workers who are 60-years-old and older. Fire damages apartment building on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – A fire damaged a small apartment building on Detroit’s east side Saturday night. The fire broke out on Pelkey Street, near Gratiot Avenue and Schoenherr Street. According to authorities, all residents -- children, adults and a dog -- made it out safely. The cause of the fire is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
Man charged with murder after woman’s body discovered in Detroit alley
DETROIT – A 43-year-old man is facing several charges for allegedly shooting and killing a woman, whose body was found in a Detroit alley in November. John Baldwin, of Detroit, was charged on Nov. 28 in connection with the homicide of Sarita Rebekah Neal, 41, also from Detroit. John E. Baldwin (Detroit Police Department)On the morning of Nov. 13, Detroit police found Neal’s body in an alley in the area of Schoenherr and Lappin streets. Officials said the woman was transported to a medical examiner, who determined Neal died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Officials say Baldwin allegedly fatally shot the victim, transported her remains to the Detroit alley in a car and later set that car on fire at another location.
Detroit police investigate possible connection between barricaded situation, injured man dropped off at hospital
DETROIT – Police are investigating whether a man who died after being dropped off at a hospital is connected to a barricaded gunman situation that occurred early Friday morning. Detroit police say at about 12:40 a.m. officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area of Schoenherr and Pfent streets. Upon arriving, officers discovered several shell casings in front of the home and on the front porch of the home in question. Officials say that during their investigation, police received another call about a 22-year-old man who was dropped off at a hospital and died soon after. Police are investigating whether or not the barricaded situation is connected to the 22-year-old man who was dropped off at the hospital around the same time.

DETROIT – Police are investigating after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered in an alley on Detroit’s east side on Nov. 13. 26-year-old man killed in rollover crash on Hoyt Street in Detroit
DETROIT – A 26-year-old man died after a rollover crash on Detroit’s east side Thursday afternoon. The crash happened at about 4 p.m. on Hoyt Street between Schoenherr Street and Gratiot Avenue. Police say the man was in a Volkswagen and drove through a yield sign, hitting another car. The driver in the other vehicle was a 20-year-old woman. She is expected to be OK.
