A call for help has been issued as Detroit Animal Care and Control no longer has a veterinarian.

HSHV is waiving fees for its long-term residents in order to expedite their adoptions.

It’s a call for help Friday (June 3) from the Oakland County Animal Shelter as they’ve had a significant uptick in people surrendering their animals, and it’s putting the shelter over capacity.

LAPEER, Mich. A boy in Lapeer came up with a fun idea to help raise money for the local animal shelter. He loves to draw and figured he could sell his art and donate the money. His goal was to raise $24. Photojournalist Alex Atwell found out he raised a lot more than his original goal. You can watch the full story in the video posted above.

SOUTH LYON, Mich. – An Arctic fox spotted in South Lyon Friday morning was taken to the Howell Nature Center for a checkup. Officers from the South Lyon Police Department came across the animal while responding to an injured dog complaint near a high school. A post on the South Lyon Police Department’s page said the fox’s owner was found. The arctic fox is also known as the white fox, polar fox and ice fox, according to the Detroit Zoo. During the winter, their fur color is white and during the summer it turns to a brownish-gray, which allows them to remain camouflaged year round.
