DETROIT โ Former southeast Michigan judge, David Parrott, is fighting to the bitter end to remake Michigan drunk driving law. A Manistee County sheriffโs deputy arrested Parrott over the holidays in 2018 on drunk driving charges. This may be the most hotly contested misdemeanor drunk driving case in the stateโs history. One that could require changing the drunk driving evidence rules. That means the prosecution of his drunk driving case will remain on hold.
Single-car crash kills 1 teenage boy, seriously injures 3 others in Manistee County
MANISTEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Police are investigating a single-car crash that killed one teenage passenger and seriously injured three others Friday night. Michigan State Police say at about 9:50 p.m. four teenage males from Manistee County were driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on River Road in Manistee Township when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the side of the road. Police say when they arrived at the scene, one passenger was still stuck inside the vehicle and had to be removed. All four occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital. Police believe that alcohol and speed may have contributed to the crash.
Michigan woman acting erratic in parking lot arrested for possession of meth, MSP says
ONEKAMA, Mich. A Michigan woman who was seen making erratic movements in the parking lot of a business was arrested for possessing methamphetamine, according to state police. Amanda Lee Miehlke, 37, of Copemish, was seen around 5 p.m. July 3 acting unusually and making erratic movements in the parking lot of an Onekama business, officials said. MSP troopers followed her and noticed the car making dangerous movements on the road, according to officials. Miehlke was pulled over and gave police permission to search her car, MSP said. The substance was sent to the MSP Crime Lab and tested positive for meth, authorities said.

Tuesday he appeared in a Northern Michigan courtroom for a bond hearing after his arrest two weeks ago in a domestic dispute in his Van Buren Township home. Video has also been released of the judgeโs original arrest for a DUI in Northern Michigan. Parrott, 60, is accused of driving his car off the road in Manistee County while intoxicated on Christmas Day 2018. Tuesday the judgeโs bond for the incident ended up reviewed by a Manistee judge. The judge in Manistee altered his bond to include sending those results to a court up North too.
Police find meth in van after stopping man who stabbed dog, assaulted girlfriend in northern Michigan
BEAR LAKE, Mich. โ A northern Michigan man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly stabbed a dog and assaulted his girlfriend, Michigan State Police said. Police said the girlfriend told troopers that she lives with her boyfriend, identified as Jackson Charles Mackey, 39, on Russell Street in Bear Lake. She said he came home on Dec. 14, went to the bedroom and stabbed a dog. When he came out of the bedroom, she told police she asked him to leave and he assaulted her. Police said Mackey took the dog and fled in a van.
