Two men were discovered hiding in separate Detroit garages after they forced their way into a pharmacy, stole thousands of dollarsโ worth of medicine, and crashed at the end of a high-speed police chase, officials said.
Children injured when vehicle traveling more than 80 mph slams into SUV on Detroitโs east side
DETROIT โ Two children were injured Tuesday afternoon when the vehicle they were in slammed into another vehicle in Detroit. An SUV was pulling onto E. Warren Avenue from Algonquin Street when it was hit by a black Cadillac Escalade that was traveling more than 80 mph, officials said. The children were in the Escalade, which ran into a tree after striking the SUV. A woman who witnessed the crash described seeing the Escalade speeding before smashing into the other vehicle. All four people who were in the Escalade, including the two young children, were taken to a hospital.
West Michigan band's equipment stolen during Clinton Township event
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A band from the west side of Michigan had all its equipment stolen while it was in Clinton Township to play at an event. Officials said Don The Pariah's equipment was stolen from a hotel parking lot after the event. The metal band played Friday at Pub 1281 in Clinton Township. When band members woke up Saturday morning and checked out of the hotel, they found the equipment had been stolen. Anyone who has information about the theft is asked to call Clinton Township police at 586-493-7800.
50 grams of cocaine found after Detroit man pulled over for insurance violation, police say
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. - State police found 50 grams of crack cocaine under the hood of a Detroit man's SUV after pulling him over for an insurance violation, officials said. Troopers stopped a 2002 Cadillac Escalade around 9:55 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Park for a fraudulent insurance violation, according to authorities. The 44-year-old Detroit man driving the Escalade didn't have a valid driver's license and was arrested, police said. During a search of the SUV, troopers found small, empty zip-close baggies, a razor blade and a scale, officials said. Troopers said they found 50 grams of crack cocaine inside the fuse box under the hood.
