I-75 restoration to resume in Oakland County, close lanes through weekend
Road work on I-75 is resuming in Oakland County starting Friday and will close all freeway lanes between I-696 and Eight Mile Road over the weekend. When I-75 lanes reopen on March 1, only two lanes will be open in each direction from just south of Eight Mile Road to just north of 13 Mile Road, officials said. AdDuring the weekend road closure, I-75 traffic will be rerouted to the following:Northbound I-75 traffic will be detoured west on Eight Mile Road to northbound Woodward Avenue, then eastbound I-696 back to northbound I-75, andSouthbound I-75 traffic will be detoured to westbound I-696 to southbound Woodward Avenue, then eastbound Eight Mile Road back to southbound I-75. After the weekend closures, some lane and ramp closures will continue through the 2021 construction season in connection with the I-75 road work. Also after March 1, all southbound I-75 traffic will be shifted onto northbound lanes near 13 Mile Road to allow for crews to rebuild the southbound I-75 bridge over 13 Mile Road, officials said.

DETROIT – Southbound lanes on I-75 will be closed on Detroit’s west side overnight Wednesday, Feb. 3 and into the morning of Thursday, Feb. 4, officials say. UPDATE -- 3:40 p.m.: All southbound lanes on I-75 are now open after Seven Mile Road. UPDATE -- 3:11 p.m.: Only the right lane on southbound I-75 after Seven Mile Road remains closed Thursday afternoon. UPDATE -- 2 p.m.: Southbound I-75 was open Thursday afternoon along this stretch, however traffic was backed up. Southbound I-75 lanes between Seven Mile and E. McNichols roads will be closed through Thursday morning due to bridge repairs.
Bridge work to close part of I-94 in Detroit this weekend
DETROIT – A portion of I-94 will be closed in Detroit this weekend due to bridge work. Elliott Street overpass will close I-94 from Gratiot Avenue to I-75 in Detroit beginning Friday, Dec. 11. Entrance ramps to westbound I-94 between Conner Road and Chene Street will close at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11. Amid the closures, westbound I-94 traffic will be detoured to southbound Gratiot Avenue to westbound Gratiot Connector, then northbound I-75 back to westbound I-94. Eastbound I-94 traffic will be detoured to southbound I-75 to the eastbound Gratiot Connector, then eastbound Gratiot Avenue back to eastbound I-94.

DETROIT – Northbound lanes are closed on parts of I-75 in Detroit Tuesday afternoon due to a vehicle fire, officials say. UPDATE: As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, all northbound lanes on I-75 at Gratiot Avenue have reopened. As of 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, northbound I-75 is closed at Mack Avenue due to the vehicle fire. 23-year-old woman killed in rollover crash on I-96 near Davison
DETROIT – A 23-year-old woman was killed when her car crashed and overturned Thursday morning on eastbound I-96 near the Davison in Detroit. Michigan State Police said the woman was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra about 2 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and crossed from the express lanes into the local lanes. The Elantra rolled over. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. More: Traffic news
Detroit police SUV involved in crash on citys west side
DETROIT A Detroit police officer was involved in a crash on Detroits west side. The crash happened Tuesday around 5:30 p.m .near Oakman Boulevard and Dexter Avenue. The police SUV was badly damaged, the airbag went off and it is missing a wheel. Police said officers were traveling West when a driver in an Avenger traveling south struck the officer in the intersection. The officers, driver and two passengers were transported to a hospital.
Teen hospitalized after rollover crash on Detroits west side
DETROIT A teenager was rushed to a hospital after a rollover crash on the west side of Detroit. The crash happened Tuesday night on Coyle Street. Police said the cause of the crash was due to speed and inexperience. The teenager was the only occupant of the vehicle. READ: More local news coverage
Pickup truck driver ejected, killed in rollover crash on I-96 near Davison in Detroit
DETROIT – A pickup truck driver was ejected from a vehicle and killed Monday morning in a crash on westbound I-96 in Detroit. Westbound I-96 was closed for several hours at Davison but has reopened to traffic. An investigation revealed the driver of a pickup truck tried to make an abrupt exit from the westbound I-96 local lanes. However, his pickup side-swiped another vehicle and rolled several times, police said. Both the pickup driver and a passenger were rushed to Sinai-Grace Hospital.
Family frustrated with drivers hitting property on Detroits west side
DETROIT A Detroit family is desperate for help after they say drivers continue to come dangerously close to their home. The family lives off the Addison Street exit from I-94 on Detroits west side. For Duillermina Hernandez and her family, the chains on a gate are the final line of defense in what they said feels like a never-ending nightmare. They never stop they hit the house and drive, all the time, Hernandez said. We have to come through the back of the house all the time.A family friend, Jorge Flores, has been working to help get a guardrail in place.
Driver in custody after crashing into bus shelter, man in wheelchair in Detroit
DETROIT Police said a driver lost control of his vehicle at Dexter and Davison on Detroits west side and crashed into a bus shelter on Wednesday night. After crashing into the bus shelter, he struck a man in a wheelchair. The 54-year-old was taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition. The driver was taken into custody. Witness says 2 girls were trapped after car crashed into house on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – A car full of people crashed into a home on Detroit’s east side. The crash happened on Schoennherr, just south of Seven Mile Road on Monday night. A witness said two girls were trapped inside until the fire department arrived on scene. Fire crews removed the door and freed the girls, according to the witness.
