Teen clerk charged with second-degree murder in fatal shooting at Detroit gas station
DETROIT – An 18-year-old gas station clerk has been charged with second-degree murder after shooting and killing a 30-year-old man inside of the store on Oct. 12. Mohammad Hizam, of Hamtramck, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, manslaughter and two counts of felony firearm, officials said. Hizam is accused of fatally shooting 30-year-old Joshua Lewis with a rifle inside of a gas station convenience store in the 10070 block of Gratiot Avenue. The teen clerk then allegedly picked up a rifle while behind an enclosed glass portion of the store and shot Lewis once in the chest. He is being held on a $500,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court next on Nov. 4.
Detroit police searching for 2 men in non-fatal shooting on Linwood Street
DETROIT – Police are searching for 2 men in connection with a non-fatal shooting on Detroit’s west side. Detroit police said at about 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, a 26-year-old man went to a gas station in the 9100 block of Linwood Street and had exchanged words with two men. Police said the man suspected of firing the shot is described as a Black man, between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 140 pounds. The second man, who police said was the driver and is a person of interest, is described as a Black man, between 5 feet 5 inches tall and 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was seen wearing black hat, puffer coat, pants and boots.

DETROIT – The family of a man shot and killed at a Detroit gas station is demanding answers and action. Lewis was shot at a 76 gas station on Gratiot Avenue. Witnesses said the 18-year-old clerk shot Lewis from behind the bulletproof glass with an AK-47. The groups have one primary demand for the owner of the gas station. In the meantime, the clerk who killed Lewis has been arrested.
Security camera captures video of deadly shooting at River Rouge gas station
RIVER ROUGE, Mich. – A security camera captured video of a River Rouge gas station shooting that left a man dead earlier this week. The video shows three people getting out of a silver Chrysler 300, walking over to another and firing shots around 6 p.m. Monday at the gas station on Visger Road between Jefferson Avenue and Fort Street. His family identified him as Alex Minor, of River Rouge. The owner of the gas station, Emad Saleh, said the gunmen then sped up the street to get to Minor’s girlfriend, who was in another car with children inside.
