(AP) — At least five people are dead and 19 were taken to hospitals after a shooting at a July Fourth parade in a Chicago suburb, and officers are searching for a suspect, police said Monday. Hundreds of parade-goers — some visibly bloodied — fled the parade route, leaving behind chairs, baby strollers and blankets. A photo posted to social media appeared to show pools of blood near upturned chairs in downtown Highland Park. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter that it is assisting Highland Park Police “with a shooting in the area of the Independence Day parade route.” The sheriff’s office directed an AP reporter to contact Highland Park Police. “People started saying: ‘There’s a shooter, there’s a shooter, there’s a shooter,’” Glickman told the Associated Press.

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – A woman was shot 11 times Wednesday in Highland Park, marking the fourth homicide in the city in about six weeks. Highland Park Det. Highland Park police weren’t able to comment on the investigation. It’s unclear why the gunman was with Hill when they got to Highland Park that night in August. Woman finds man beaten to death in pickup after noticing truck running all day on Highland Park street
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – A woman discovered a man who was beaten to death and left in a running truck Tuesday in Highland Park. Police said the woman noticed a white pickup truck running on Church Street when she left her home about 6 a.m. When she returned home in the evening, she saw the truck was still running so she looked in the window and saw the man slumped over in the passenger seat. According to police, they believe the man is a 49-year-old from Ypsilanti. Anyone who may have seen a white pickup truck in the area of 6 Mile Road and Oakland Avenue on Monday night is asked to contact police at 313-852-7338.
