‘History 4 All’: Celebrating Black History Month
WDIV-Local 4, in keeping with the station’s initiative of “Celebrating Black History” throughout February, aired a primetime special called “History 4 All” on Wednesday, Feb. 24. You can watch the full special in the video above. From what should be taught in our schools’ history classes to why we still need Black History Month, Local 4′s anchors and reporters highlight topics impacting on our local communities and beyond. “Our hope is that these in-depth stories will spark conversations about how we all benefit from a diverse community like we have here in Metro Detroit,” said Vice President and General Manager Marla Drutz. This hour-long special was hosted by Devin Scillian and Kimberly Gill, and featured stories from them, as well as Rhonda Walker, Evrod Cassimy, Paula Tutman, Steve Garagiola, Larry Spruill, Victor Williams and Jamie Edmonds.

Big Ten football returns this weekend
Big Ten football is back with both the Spartans and Wolverines taking the field. Big Ten football officially kicked off tonight with Illinois and Wisconsin. All teams will play eight games in eight weeks with a conference championship on Dec. 19. Both Michigan and Michigan State University coaches say they’re ready. Then Michigan will kick things off at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.

DETROIT – It’s seems the word “normal” is changing by the day -- even by the hour -- as the coronavirus pandemic continues. Tuesday is day one of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order, so Local 4 asked its reporters in the field to describe what it’s like out in the world. Paula Tutman, Larry Spruill, Rod Meloni and Jamie Edmonds weighed in. Orion Township supervisor details return from China amid coronavirus outbreak
ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The family of Orion Township Supervisor Chris Barnett was forced to travel to China and back amid the coronavirus outbreak. Barnett said there were some scary moments for his family, but they have since returned to the United States safe and healthy. His sister, who lives in China, became critically ill, but it was unrelated to the coronavirus. “It was scary,” Barnett said. “They pulled us off the plane,” Barnett said.

University of Michigan’s Chris Evans started CE Stars to help others with a passion for football. Evans and CE Stars youth flag football director Scott Bivens -- along with the youth flag football team -- came to Detroit to speak with Jamie Edmonds for Sunday’s “Sports Final Edition.”The program was established to help youths grow through skills development, mentorship programs and more.
