ANN ARBOR, MI - Temporary street closures for construction are coming to a thoroughfare and another street south of downtown, as well as Ann Arbor’s Lower Town area beginning Monday, July 25. On the block, The Standard, a new high-rise ranging from five to 10 stories is nearing completion, slated to host 218 apartments and ground-floor commercial space, MLive/The Ann Arbor News previously reported. Nearby, the northbound lanes of Thompson Street between East Madison Street and East Jefferson Street are also closing at 7 a.m. on Monday. The Fleming Administration Building, on the corner of Thompson Street and East Jefferson Street is scheduled for demolition this year. Across the Huron River north of downtown, another closure is coming to the Lower Town area along Broadway Street.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, the easternmost lanes of Division Street between Packard Street and East Ann Street are closed, , according to city officials and the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority. Division Street will stay reduced to one northbound lane of vehicle traffic until the project’s expected completion at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 8.

ANN ARBOR – The city will be closing both directions of South Main Street between East William Street and Packard Street on Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to facilitate crane work. The city has posted this detour map so drivers are aware of what to expect. The closure will only affect a one-block stretch of road, but with Main Street being a major thoroughfare, the detours may slightly slow your commute. Access will be maintained for local businesses at all times during the construction work while pedestrians will also be detoured along the same route as vehicles. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – If you are planning to use Packard Street when heading downtown next week, expect a detour. On Monday, Jan. 11, traffic on Packard Street between South Fourth Avenue and South Main Street will be detoured to make room for utility work on the west side of the road. Westbound drivers will be detoured north on South Fourth Avenue, west on East William Street and then onto South Main Street, according to a notice on the city of Ann Arbor traffic website. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Roger Lee Pierce Jr., a 50-year-old man from Howell, was arraigned Saturday in connection with a Pittsfield Township homicide and a shooting in Ypsilanti. Police said they found the body of Marcus McMullan, a 39-year-old man from Ypsilanti, with a gunshot wound to the head. Police, joined by officers with the Detroit DEA office and Michigan State Police, took Pierce into custody on an arrest warrant for felonious assault. Police said during the interview with Pierce, additional search warrants led to charges being authorized for open murder and six other firearm related counts. Pierce was arraigned Saturday and is being held without bond.

New Ann Arbor roads closures to start Monday
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Expect delays next Monday when two new road closures in downtown Ann Arbor begin. Northwest-bound traffic will use Maiden Lane to access Broadway Street, Plymouth Road or Moore Street. At 9 a.m. the same day, East William Street between South Main Street and South Fourth Avenue will close for ten days for road work. Eastbound traffic on West William Street will be detoured to South Main Street, Packard Street, South Fourth Avenue and onto East William Street. Traffic coming in the opposite direction will do the reverse by detouring to South Fourth Avenue, Packard Street, South Main Street and then to West William Street.
Ann Arbor catering, carry-out eatery to take over Kerrytown location
ANN ARBOR, Mich. This fall, hungry eaters visiting the Kerrytown district in downtown Ann Arbor will notice a change. Eat Catering and Carry-out, a Packard Street eatery, will be taking over the spot left vacant by The Lunch Room Diner & Canteen in Kerrytown Market & Shops. The eatery will also offer brunch in addition to menu items similar to its Packard location offerings. Eat will keep its carry-out location on Packard Street. ANN ARBOR – Just in case you forgot, it’s traffic season in Ann Arbor. Westbound traffic will be detoured northbound on Ashley Street to westbound on Miller Avenue to northbound on First Street to Ann Street. Blue Front Ann Arbor to close its doors by end of June
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Located on the corner of Packard Street and Arbor Street, Blue Front Ann Arbor has announced that it will close its doors by the end of June. Now a specialty craft beer and wine store, Blue Front has a long history in Ann Arbor. Having grown up in Ann Arbor a few blocks from Blue Front years before he purchased it, Blinder is sad to see his involvement with the historic business end, but is optimistic for its future. Nevertheless, he is thankful for his customers who have supported Blue Front over the years, some of whom have traveled to the Ann Arbor store from Toledo and Grand Rapids. Electronics stolen from off-campus shared apartment in Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Several electronics were stolen from an off-campus apartment that was robbed Thursday. Police say the robbery happened between 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the apartment located on Packard Street. At around 1:15 p.m. a resident discovered the front door of the apartment was damaged and forced open. Another resident was in the apartment sleeping at the time but did not report hearing or seeing anyone. The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating the case.
