Carlos Carrasco allowed one hit in seven scoreless innings, and Jose Ramirez homered twice to lift the Cleveland Indians to a 7-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Matthew Boyd (2-7) was perfect through four innings for the Tigers, but the Indians scored three runs in the fifth. The Indians took the lead on Jordan Luplow’s RBI single, and Delino DeShields added a two-run single that inning.

DETROIT Less than a week ago, the Detroit Tigers were four games above .500, in first place in the AL Central Division and multiple games ahead of the other wildcard contenders. After two disappointing losses to the Chicago White Sox and another sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Indians, the Tigers have a losing record and sit outside the current playoff picture. The slide began with Matt Boyd handing back a hard-earned lead against the White Sox on Wednesday. As it stands, the Tigers have lost 20 straight games to the Indians -- a stunning streak for a Major League Baseball team. But losing five in a row erased that cushion, and now theyre forced to win against legitimate playoff teams.

DETROIT With more than one-fifth of the full schedule in the books, the Detroit Tigers have one of the best records in the entire American League. In the Tigers defense, they can only play the games on their schedule, and they more or less took advantage of those first 13 games. The way the Tigers have played so far suggests theyre the best of all the really bad teams. Looking forward, this weeks series with the White Sox is extremely important. Not only do the White Sox appear to have the best roster of that middling tier, they also play the Tigers 10 times during this stretch.

PITTSBURGH Spencer Turnbull pitched seven strong innings and Miguel Cabrera singled home the tiebreaking run in the eighth as the Detroit Tigers edged the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 on Sunday to sweep the three-game series. After the Tigers posted 17-13 and 11-5 wins at PNC Park, the finale turned into a pitching duel. He also could be seen talking to himself between pitches at time, reminiscent of former Tigers pitcher Mark The Bird Fidrych. Pirates: Evans will miss the remainder of the season after being injured in a collision with RF Gregory Polanco on Saturday. UP NEXTTigers: Open a three-game series against the White Sox on Monday night in Detroit with RHP Michael Fulmer (0-0, 13.50) pitching against LHP Dallas Keuchel (1-0, 2.55).

Cron and Jeimer Candelario all hit home runs in the first inning against Pittsburghs Derek Holland as the Detroit Tigers drilled the Pirates 11-5 on Saturday. A night after a 17-13 win in 11 innings, Detroit came out swinging and sent the Pirates their ninth loss in their last 10 games. Nine of the Tigers' 16 hits went for extra bases. TRAINER'S ROOMPirates: Closer Keone Kela (COVID-19) pitched an inning of live batting practice but there remains no timetable for his return. Pirates: Joe Musgrove (0-3, 6.75) will attempt to bounce back after getting knocked around in a loss to Minnesota.

On Thursday, the Yankees optioned Miguel Andujar to their alternate training site, where hell join former top prospect Clint Frazier in intrasquad games and workouts. Trade returnJust because Andujar and Frazier cant break the Yankees starting lineup doesnt mean theyre scrubs. In that full season, Andujar hit 27 home runs and 47 doubles in 149 games with a low strikeout rate and a .297/.328/.527 slash line. Andujar has shown what he can do in a full season, and Frazier deserves a chance to validate his prospect pedigree. But with Miguel Cabreras contract the only post-arbitration deal on the books after this season, the Tigers have plenty of money to spend.

The two RBIs boosted Cabrera past Hall-of-Famer Cal Ripken Jr. and into 25th place on the career RBI list with 1,696. Reds: The Reds placed infielder Matt Davidson on the 10-day injured list after he tested positive for COVID-19 and put catcher Tucker Barnhart on the three-day paternity list. Reds: RHP Trevor Bauer (combined 11-13 in 2019 with Cleveland and Cincinnati) makes his 20th career start against Detroit.

In this third round against the Reds, it was an impressive display of clutch hitting and impressive itching. Once again, the Tigers were able to strike first courtesy of a solo shot over the right center fence by Niko Goodrum. Spencer Turnbull was the starting pitcher for the Tigers and pitched five innings only allowing one earned run and got eight strikeouts. Cron would send a two-run home run over Nick Castellanos in right field putting the Tigers ahead 3-1. The Tigers would win the contest 3-2 and get the better hand of the series over the Reds winning 2 out of the 3 games.

DETROIT The Detroit Tigers revealed their final 30-man Opening Day roster for the 2020 season Thursday, just hours before the noon deadline. The Tigers had most of their roster figured out before the second round of spring training began, but there was still competition for the final bullpen and reserve spots. They had on-and-off moments throughout summer camp, and the Tigers could have gone with higher upside choices such as Shao-Ching Chiang or Nolan Blackwood. CHICAGO - Tim Anderson became the third Chicago White Sox player to win an American League batting title, finishing at .335 after going 0 for 2 in a season-ending 5-3 win over the worst-in-the-majors Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Anderson grounded out in the first inning, lined out in the third, then was replaced at the start of the fifth. He received a standing ovation and took a curtain call after the team announced the batting title on the scoreboard in the sixth. Anderson joined Luke Appling (1936 and 1943) and Frank Thomas (1997) as batting champions for the White Sox. The Tigers will pick first in the amateur draft next June for the second time in three years.
