Rapper Tone Tone opens restaurant ‘Toney Island’ on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – One of the biggest names in Detroit’s rap scene opened a Coney Island on the city’s east side Saturday. While speaking in front of a crowd Saturday afternoon Detroit rapper Tone Tone discussed the opening of Toney Island at the corner of East Warren and Dickerson. The restaurant is home to the “Waddupdoe Burgers,” and its menu extends far beyond any traditional Coney Island. The rapper has been dreaming about opening his first restaurant since he was a child. He is also one if the youngest Black men to own a Coney Island in Detroit.
Detroit rapper back behind bars after posting music video that proved he violated bond
DETROIT – A Detroit rapper is back in custody after breaking the rules of his bond and posting evidence online. Sebrell Cole, also known as Brello, is a Detroit rapper. According to court documents, Brello posted a music video that featured himself in possession of a gun. After the music video was posted online, federal agents executed a search warrant at the Hamburg Street location. Officials said Brello admitted that the music video was filmed while he was out on bond and was not supposed to possess any firearms.
Up and coming rapper shot multiple times during home invasion in West Bloomfield
WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – An up and coming Metro Detroit rapper was shot during a home invasion in a West Bloomfield home early Friday morning. Sources told Local 4 that rapper Mr. Macnificent was shot multiple times. West Bloomfield police are looking for three suspects. West Bloomfield police said a woman called 911 around 3:30 a.m. Friday.
Rapper Tory Lanez charged with shooting Megan Thee Stallion
LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles prosecutors on Thursday charged rapper Tory Lanez with shooting artist Megan Thee Stallion during an argument earlier this year. Lanez is accused of shooting at Megan Thee Stallion's feet, hitting her, after she left a SUV during a fight in the Hollywood Hills on July 12, according to a release. The complaint states Lanez “inflicted great bodily injury” on Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez, a 27-year-old Canadian rapper and singer whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, is due to be arraigned Tuesday in Los Angeles. At the time of the shooting, Megan Thee Stallion was already a major hip-hop star following a triumphant year that saw her nominated for artist of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Rising Detroit rap star known as ‘Jizzle P’ shot and killed in front of mother
DETROIT – A rising star in Detroit’s rap community was shot and killed Tuesday night while sitting in a car on the city’s west side. Aaron Mays, better known as Jizzle P, was just starting to get some attention on the national stage. His mother, Senekua Mays, said she walked out of her home at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday night. “My heart don’t hurt, my soul hurt ... “I couldn’t see his face at all the fire from the gun it was just too ...” his mother said.
Detroit rapper 42 Dugg arrested 2 months after fleeing from police in Oakland County
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. Detroit rapper 42 Dugg was arrested Monday, two months after he reportedly fled from police in Oakland County. Court records said police attempted to approach the rappers vehicle on June 5 for a traffic violation, but he took off in the vehicle. The rapper, whose real name is Dion Hayes, was located and arrested two months later in the county. The report also said surveillance video showed Hayes was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Hayes was placed in jail on a $20,000 bond, which has since been posted.
