President-elect Biden to introduce key members of new administration
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris held a live event Friday afternoon to introduce nominees and appointees for their administration. This live stream has now ended. President-elect Biden is introducing five top picks for his new administration on Friday, drawing on leading names from the Obama White House while also tapping an Ohio congresswoman and a congressional committee veteran. Appearing at the afternoon event are Biden’s choice for director of White House Domestic Policy Council, Susan Rice, who served as President Barack Obama’s national security adviser and U.N. ambassador; and Denis McDonough, Obama’s White House chief of staff, now nominated as veterans affairs secretary. Also attending will be Biden’s selection for agriculture secretary, Tom Vilsack, who held the same post for Obama; Ohio Rep. Marcia Fudge, chosen to be the new administration’s housing chief; and Katherine Tai, who is chief trade counsel for the House Ways and Means Committee and has been tapped as U.S. trade representative.
University of Michigan alumna Rohini Kosoglu named to VP-elect Kamala Harris’ White House staff
University of Michigan alumna Rohini Kosoglu has been named to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ White House senior staff. Kosoglu will serve as domestic policy advisor to the Vice President. She previously served as a legislative aide to Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow. She also previously served as a legislative aide to U.S. Originally from New Jersey, Kosoglu is a graduate of the University of Michigan and George Washington University and is a mother to three young children.

– President-elect Joe Biden will deliver remarks from Wilmington, Delaware at 8 p.m. Saturday alongside Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. A presidential candidate requires at least 270 electoral votes to win the election. Biden, resting at 264 electoral votes early Friday morning, was projected to win the state of Pennsylvania as of 11:25 a.m., according to The AP. With its 20 electoral votes up for grabs, Pennsylvania placed Biden at 284 electoral votes -- enough to call the race nearly four days after Election Day. The AP also projected that Biden won the state of Nevada on Saturday, bringing his electoral vote total to 290.

DETROIT – Actress Kerry Washington and her husband, former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, will be heading to Michigan on Monday one day before Election Day, according to the Biden-Harris campaign. Washington and Asomugha speak at volunteer canvass launches at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Inkster and Taylor respectively, and take part in a voter mobilization event at 3 p.m. in Detroit, according to the campaign. The Traverse City event takes place 5 p.m. at Cherry Capitol Airport. The president stopped in Metro Detroit Sunday, campaigning in Washington Township. Biden made a stop in Detroit and Flint on Saturday along with former President Barack Obama.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden have tested negative for COVID-19, the Biden-Harris campaign announced Friday. “Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden underwent PCR testing for COVID-19 today and COVID-19 was not detected,” reads a statement from Dr. Kevin O’Connor. “I am reporting this out in my capacity as both Vice President Biden and Dr. Biden’s primary care physician.”Biden also tweeted:I’m happy to report that Jill and I have tested negative for COVID. — Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) October 2, 2020Joe Biden was on the debate stage with Trump for more than 90 minutes earlier in the week. DETROIT – On Tuesday Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris will campaign in Flint and Detroit, the Biden-Harris campaign announced Sunday. Additional details about the trip were released by the Biden-Harris campaign Monday afternoon. The Biden-Harris campaign did not provide information on what time the Flint event begins. Harris' trip to Michigan comes as Detroit struggles with increased crime and months of racial unrest. She is visiting Flint after the State of Michigan announced a $600 million settlement in lawsuits related to the Flint Water Crisis.
