DETROIT โ An off-duty Detroit police officer was injured during a shootout with a pickup truck driver who reportedly rammed into her vehicle on I-75. Police said the officer and the suspected gunman knew each other. According to authorities, the off-duty officer was driving on the interstate at about 3 a.m. when a 34-year-old man in a black F-150 repeatedly started to rear end her car. Both the officer and the suspected gunman were shot. The suspected gunman was taken into police custody and transported to a hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

As she tried to drive away, the pickup truck followed her and rammed into her vehicle, pinning her against the construction barrier wall, officials said. The 34-year-old man driving the pickup truck was known to the officer, police said. He got out of the pickup truck and started to exchange gunfire with the officer, according to authorities. During the shootout, both the officer and the 34-year-old man were struck by gunfire, police said.

DETROIT A 27-year-old man was shot by a Detroit police officer on the citys west side on Sunday night. Detroit Police Chief James Craig says the investigation is young, but was able to provide some details during a news conference Monday afternoon. According to Craig, police assigned to the area noticed the man carrying a concealed weapon outside of a green light gas station around 11 p.m. in the area of Plymouth Road and Wyoming Avenue. One officer fired between five and six rounds of his weapon at the suspect, officials said. Officials say the man continued to run after he was struck.
