Detroit police believe off-duty officer was targeted in shooting on I-75
DETROIT – An off-duty Detroit police officer was injured during a shootout with a pickup truck driver who reportedly rammed into her vehicle on I-75. Police said the officer and the suspected gunman knew each other. According to authorities, the off-duty officer was driving on the interstate at about 3 a.m. when a 34-year-old man in a black F-150 repeatedly started to rear end her car. Both the officer and the suspected gunman were shot. The suspected gunman was taken into police custody and transported to a hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

DETROIT – An off-duty Detroit police officer was injured during a shootout with a pickup truck driver who repeatedly rammed into her vehicle on I-75, according to officials. As she tried to drive away, the pickup truck followed her and rammed into her vehicle, pinning her against the construction barrier wall, officials said. The 34-year-old man driving the pickup truck was known to the officer, police said. He got out of the pickup truck and started to exchange gunfire with the officer, according to authorities. During the shootout, both the officer and the 34-year-old man were struck by gunfire, police said.
Armed man killed by Detroit police after woman’s murder, police station shooting, DPD says
DETROIT – A man armed with a high-powered rifle was killed during a shootout with police after he murdered a woman over a child custody issue and fired shots into a police station, according to authorities. Detroit police Chief James Craig said the man involved in the shooting approached the Fifth Precinct in a large, black SUV and got out with a “high-powered” rifle. He fired about four shots into the police station, Craig said. The lieutenant at the desk put out a call for help, and as units responded, the armed man left the front area of the police station, according to authorities. When he came across one of the responding police vehicles, the man fired at it, hitting it at least once in the windshield, officials said.
