Westland police arrest suspect in deadly stabbing
WESTLAND, Mich. – Police made an arrest in connection with a deadly stabbing that happened early Tuesday morning. They provided medical aid until the Westland Fire Department arrived. Police said a suspect was located and taken into custody. The suspect and victim knew each other, police said. The identity of the suspect will be released if charges are issued by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
Man arrested in Westland Mall shooting, police still seek others involved
WESTLAND, Mich. – Police arrested Gregory Travis, 24, Monday in connection to a shooting that occurred July 9 at the Westland Mall. Police said an employee said two or three men were arguing inside a perfume store when one man pulled a hand gun and fired two shots at another man. Witnesses told police all the men involved in the argument fled the mall on foot. Police said it was not a random act of violence as the parties involved had interactions prior to their confrontation at the Westland Mall. The Westland Police are still attempting to identify others who were involved.

2 in custody after man fatally shot outside Westland home
WESTLAND, Mich. – Two people are in custody after a man was found fatally shot outside a Westland home on Monday night. Police said shots were fired at a home on Van Born Road, a few blocks west of Inkster Road. Westland police and Michigan State Police are on scene. Police said a father, his daughter and his daughter’s boyfriend live in the home. The boyfriend was outside of the home and that’s when police said he kicked in the door to get inside the house and was shot at and killed.
Vehicle slams into Westland house; driver flees on foot
WESTLAND, Mich. – A vehicle slammed into a house Tuesday morning near Henry Ruff Road and Avondale Street in Westland. More: Westland NewsThe homeowner said he was on his couch watching TV when he heard the tires. He said no one inside the home was hurt. The driver, however, was covered in blood and offered to give him money so he wouldn’t call police, the homeowner said. The driver then fled the area on foot.
