Canton Police Department receives approval for embedded social worker program
DETROIT โ The Canton Township Board of Trustees approved the police department for a service contract with Hegira Health for their Embedded Social Worker Program. The embedded social worker program is one of the multiple programs the police department has originated. โThe embedded social worker program is another step in providing better service to our community. Cops fired over photos tied to Elijah McClain not reinstated
The Aurora Civil Service Commission issued a decision Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, upholding the firings of officers Marrero, Dittrich and Jason Rosenblatt over this and similar photos. Police Chief Vanessa Wilson fired the three officers last year over two photos taken at a memorial to McClain two months after his death. AdDittrich texted the photos to two officers who stopped McClain โ Rosenblatt and Nathan Woodyard โ to try to cheer up Woodyard, authorities said. Besides the neckhold, McClain was injected with the sedative ketamine. Rosenblatt initially tried to put McClain in the neckhold but couldnโt because of his position, so Woodyard did, authorities said.

The Long Beach Police Department said Friday that the two Australian lace monitor lizards were stolen from JTK Reptiles in Long Beach in November, The Los Angeles Times reports. Three people entered the store, broke into the cages holding the lizards and escaped to a waiting car, authorities said. Animal control handlers were called to recover the lizards before being returned to their owner, Long Beach Police Department spokesman Brandon Fahey said.

15-year-old Detroit boy missing for days
DETROIT โ Detroit police are looking for a missing 15-year-old named Andrew Tucker. He was last seen around noon Tuesday, Sept. 15 at his home in the 17300 block of Rutherford in Detroit. The uncle left the home and when he returned Tucker was gone. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray sweatshirt and khaki pants. Harper Woods man suspected of killing woman charged with homicide
HARPER WOODS, Mich. โ Steven Mark Bratton was charged Tuesday in connection with the death of a 37-year-old Harper Woods woman. According to authorities, police responded to reports of a woman fatally shot in the back yard of a home in the 19100 block of Woodside Street. Police said the body of a 37-year-old woman was found at the scene and, within an hour, Bratton was taken into custody and a handgun believed to have been used in the crime was recovered. Royal Oak police apologize to black man stopped for allegedly looking at white woman suspiciously
ROYAL OAK, Mich. - Royal Oak police apologized Thursday after a viral video of an officer approaching a black man for allegedly looking at a white woman suspiciously caused outrage. The officer and Myers went back and forth, and Myers asked for a supervisor. The Police Department issued an apology for what happened, saying: "This is not the practice of the Royal Oak Police Department and it is not acceptable. The supervisor has been disciplined and every Royal Oak police supervisor has received additional training in procedural justice."
