Pedestrian in critical condition after collision in Clinton Township
A man was critically injured when in a collision in Clinton Township, Dec. 19, 2020. CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 52-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck by a pickup truck as he was crossing the street near the intersection of Cottrell and Harper avenues, just east of I-94, Saturday. According to authorities, the collision happened just before 5:30 p.m. when the pickup truck turned from northbound Harper Avenue onto eastbound Cottrell Avenue, where the man was walking in the crosswalk. Police said the man struck his head and suffered a head injury. Police said the driver, a 53-year-old man from Clinton Township, immediately stopped and rendered aid.
MSP urges residents not to text and drive after multiple-car collision
NILES, Mich. โ The Michigan State Police department is reminding residents to not text and drive after a distracted driver was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision Monday. The crash was captured by a MSP trooperโs dashcam near Niles, on Michiganโs southwest side. According to the National Highway Trafic Safety Administration, distracted driving killed nearly 3,000 people in 2018 -- 1,730 drivers, 605 passengers, 400 pedestrians and 77 bicyclists -- and injured about 400,000 people. Children injured when vehicle traveling more than 80 mph slams into SUV on Detroitโs east side
DETROIT โ Two children were injured Tuesday afternoon when the vehicle they were in slammed into another vehicle in Detroit. An SUV was pulling onto E. Warren Avenue from Algonquin Street when it was hit by a black Cadillac Escalade that was traveling more than 80 mph, officials said. The children were in the Escalade, which ran into a tree after striking the SUV. A woman who witnessed the crash described seeing the Escalade speeding before smashing into the other vehicle. All four people who were in the Escalade, including the two young children, were taken to a hospital.
