The outdoor holiday market is back for 2021 featuring all local businesses. “These are all small businesses with the majority local Detroit businesses,” Francesca Eid, VP of Experience at Bedrock Detroit, told MLive. “The markets are just a wonderful opportunity for local, small businesses to test out the retail market in the city.”There’s not just shopping, but food and beverages, minus alcohol. DETROIT – The ice skating rink at Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit opened to the public on Friday. This year, Campus Martius and Cadillac Square are going to look a whole lot different. Frankenmuth pulled their sponsorship from the downtown ice rink because of coronavirus. Instead, the Downtown Detroit partnership plans to support local small businesses in a different way. Detroit’s annual Christmas tree arrived at Campus Martius in Downtown Detroit last week.
Downtown Detroit Markets to re-open for winter season November 13
Just in time for the holidays, the Downtown Detroit Markets are set to return for a third consecutive year. Sponsored by Bedrock and the Quicken Loans Community Fund, the markets feature local vendors selling goods out of glass sheds in Cadillac Square and Capitol Park. Year after year, the Downtown Detroit Markets have supported inclusivity, vibrancy, and resiliency all across the city by building connections between local entrepreneurs and the growing retail market in downtown Detroit, Laura Grannemann, vice president of strategic investments for the Quicken Loans Community Fund, said in a release. This large, covered event space will feature more local goods, including beverages from Eastern Market Brewing Co. and Blakes Hard Cider. Detroit Fiber Works: Located on the Livernois Avenue of Fashion in northwest Detroit, it sells fiber artwork made by Detroit artists.
