Davison man arrested after high speed chase in Chesterfield Township
CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. A Davison man was arrested after leading police on an 18-mile chase Tuesday morning in Chesterfield Township. Instead, police dashcam showed the 31-year-old driver fleeing at a high rate of speed, at times more than 100 mph. The chase continued for 13 minutes as the driver is seen traveling through Chesterfield and Clinton townships. It ended near 23 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue when the driver flees from the moving car. The suspect didnt get very far, tripping and falling on the lawn of a nearby Burger King before he was arrested.
Man hunting for mushrooms in Macomb County finds remains of missing man
CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. The remains of a 35-year-old Eastpointe man reported missing in 2018 was found Saturday afternoon in Chesterfield Township by a man looking for mushrooms. According to the Chesterfield Township Police Department, it happened at about 4 p.m. in a heavily-wooded and swampy area south of 23 Mile Road, near I-94. Police said bones, heavily weathered clothing and camping equipment were found and that there were no signs of trauma. The man was identified by a Michigan ID card inside a wallet, police said. The investigation is ongoing, but police said there were no signs of criminal activity.
Police investigating Fifth Third Bank robbery in Chesterfield Township
CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police are investigating after a Fifth Third Bank in Chesterfield Township was robbed Wednesday at 2:35 p.m.Police said the robber fled the bank on foot with an unknown amount of cash. The Chesterfield Township Police Department used a K-9 unit to search the area for the suspect, but was not successful. The police department's detective bureau and the FBI are investigating this robbery and a previous bank robbery that occurred in Chesterfield Township at a Citizens Bank on Oct. 2.
