Barn fire in western Michigan kills several farm animals
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – A large barn fire killed multiple animals Thursday morning in Berrien County. According to authorities, the Chikaming Township Fire Department were called to the fire at about 5:30 a.m.Fire crews were able to save two horses, two goats and some of the chickens, but some chickens, a peacock and four llamas -- including three babies -- were killed by the fire. “By the time we were able to do anything, it was so totally involved there was absolutely no way that anybody could go inside to try to get the other animals out,” said fire chief Mike Davidson. “It had too much of a head start on us.”The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities believe no foul play is involved.
2 killed in Detroit house fire believed to be caused by space heaters
DETROIT – Fire crews believe space heaters were the cause of a fatal house fire Saturday morning in Detroit. According to authorities, the bodies of two men were found in a bedroom in a home on Lauder Street, near the intersection of Hubbell and Fenkell avenues. The Detroit Fire Department said several space heaters were found in the home and they believe the propane and kerosene heaters were being misused. Fire on Detroit’s east side kills 1, injures 4
DETROIT – A fire at a group home on Detroit’s east side killed one man and injured four others Friday morning. It happened on Burns Avenue, near I-94 and Van Dyke Avenue. The group home was significantly damaged and the building might be a total loss. The other four men were rushed to a hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. AdWindows blown out due to the intense heat with damages extending around to the front and porch of the home.
2 found dead after massive fire rips through home on Detroits west side
DETROIT Firefighters are investigating after two people were found dead in a home that was ravaged by a massive fire on Detroits west side. They got inside the building, and in doing their search, they found two victims in the front room, Detroit fire Capt. Detroit house fire being investigated as potential homicide after 3 bodies found inside
DETROIT Police took two men in for questioning Thursday after the bodies of three men and an unidentified pet were found in a burned house on Detroits east side. ORIGINAL STORY: 3 men found dead in house fire on Helen Street in Detroit; 2 arrestedPolice said they are investigating the incident as a potential homicide and are unsure if the men inside died before the fire started. Police said the fire could have started in the living room and could have been an arson to cover up the cause of death of the men inside. Deputy Commissioner David Fornell of the Detroit fire department said the bodies inside were so badly burned that they couldnt be recognized, but neighbors believe the man -- known by most as Greedy -- whos lived there for seven years was inside. 3 bodies found inside Detroit home after explosion, 2 taken into custody
DETROIT Police are questioning two men about a house fire early Wednesday morning on Detroits east side. Neighbors were startled out of their sleep to the sounds of a house explosion. Police say the suspects were arrested on unrelated warrants but theyre still being questioned. Neighbors claim to have heard gunshots before the explosion and saw a person fleeing the scene after the explosion. Police said the next step is identifying the bodies and finding out how they died before they can potentially press charges on the men taken into custody.
Man killed in Harper Woods house fire
HARPER WOODS, Mich. – Investigators from the Harper Woods Fire Department are probing a deadly house fire that started early Thursday morning at a home in the area of Vernier Road and I-94. However, Harper Woods officials later said the grow operation actually was for bonsai plants. A house burned Jan. 9, 2020 in the 21100 block of Country Club Drive in Harper Woods, Mich. (WDIV-TV)Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Farms fire departments also assisted Harper Woods with putting out the fire. Dave Mehl, of the Harper Woods Fire Department. Mehl did not know for sure if the house had working smoke detectors.
