A man tried and failed to steal a pickup truck that had been left running and unattended outside a Farmington Hills gas station, police said.

Three letter carriers have been charged for accepting bribes from a Farmington Hills man to help him steal credit cards from other people and intercept fraudulent COVID unemployment benefits he sent to homes along their routes, officials said.

The man and woman have children together and police said they brought the children with them in their car while they committed crimes. The officer knew there were people breaking into multiple businesses, night after night, and he stopped the car. Police said a hammer was found inside the car and the couple admitted they had been spending nights driving with their children, breaking into businesses and grabbing about $100 each time. FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Farmington Hills Police Department is investigating a report of a fight and shots fired in the parking lot of the Retreat of Farmington Hills apartment complex. One person ran away from responding officers and is described as a Black man in his 20s, of medium height. He was wearing black jogging pants with a white stripe down the side and carrying a black backpack. Police said there are no reports of any injuries and no information that indicates there’s a threat to the public.
