West Bloomfield man charged in execution-style killings has long criminal history
Nicholas Bahri, 37, of West Bloomfield township, was arraigned Tuesday on 15 charges in the execution-style killings of a 6-year-old boy, the boyโs father and his fatherโs girlfriend. Prior to the recent killings, Bahri had developed an extensive criminal history and was released from prison just months ago. โI donโt think that anyone looking at the (criminal) history could forecast the crimes (Bahri) has been accused of, and possibly committed here,โ said Local 4โฒs legal analyst Neil Rockind. Rockind says there are peculiar clues about Bahriโs criminal history. โ(Bahriโs criminal record) shows someone who is sick, demented and who has really forfeited their right to to interact with the rest of us,โ Rockind said.
Alleged hazing incident at Warren De La Salle prompts police investigation
WARREN, Mich. Warren police are reviewing an alleged hazing incident at De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren. Charges could possible against those who participated, even if no physical contact occurred. It depends on how far the threat of use of the broomstick went, Local 4 legal expert Neil Rockind said. If it got to the point that it seemed like a real threat, than one can be charged with assault. The other question police need to answer is what was the extent of the physical contact.

DETROIT - As Michigan rolls out the second phase of its roadside drug testing program, an attorney is questioning the privacy of the tests. The preliminary oral fluid analysis will be conducted by a DRE on the persons oral fluid, obtained by mouth swab, and will be administered along with the drug recognition 12-step evaluation currently used by DREs. The oral fluid test instrument tests for the presence of the following drugs: amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabis (delta 9 THC), cocaine, methamphetamines and opiates. Refusal to submit to a preliminary oral fluid analysis upon lawful demand of a police officer is a civil infraction. Although the pilot program is being organized and managed by the MSP, DREs employed by county, township and municipal police agencies are also involved.

Religious discrimination? Department of Justice sues city of Troy over denial of mosque
TROY, Mich. - The Justice Department announced Thursday that it has filed a lawsuit against the city of Troy alleging that the city violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA). The Council on American-Islamic relations accuses Troy leaders of only approving permits for businesses that would make the city money -- a potential violation of RLUIPA. The result is a federal lawsuit against the city of Troy that could be embarrassing and expensive. The city of Troy released the following statement Thursday afternoon:"The City of Troy has not yet been served with the Department of Justices lawsuit against the City. The City vehemently denies that it engaged in any impropriety or discrimination and it is aggressively defending the lawsuit.
Questions raised after scholarship money was taken from Oakland Hills trust fund
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. - Money is missing from an Oakland County country club. Oakland Hills members want questions answered about how much money was taken and were the police called to investigate? Oakland Hills country club members told Local 4 they were stunned to get a letter from Oakland Hills Caddie Scholarship trust president and board of directors. The letter states a former trust board member took the money. "Despicable, sad behavior, we have questions about this," a country club member said.
Royal Oak man sues ex-girlfriend for not using birth control
ROYAL OAK, Mich. - A Royal Oak man is suing his ex-girlfriend because she didn't take birth control, officials said. The legal logic calls the resulting pregnancy an assault on the man, according to records. The lawsuit claims that if someone must legally disclose a sexually transmitted disease, they should also be obligated to make it clear in advance that they're not on birth control. Officials said it was filed by Luke Strenski, 27, of Royal Oak. Local 4 contacted Strenski through his attorney, but neither side of the case wanted to participate in this story.
FBI hunts ISIS doctor from mid-Michigan
FLUSHING, Mich. โ The FBI is investigating a young man from the Flint area for supporting ISIS and working as a doctor for the terror group. Mohamed Maleeh Masha, 24, of Flushing, is at the center of a terror investigation as an alleged ISIS sympathizer. The Detroit News found a sealed FBI search warrant posted online showing that agents were tracking Masha from his familyโs home in Flushing to Syrai. โItโs a rare instance when you learn of an on-going terror investigation before anyone is ever charged,โ Detroit News reporter Robert Snell said. โThey may find that his family is financing his ISIS sympathizing.โThe small town is reeling as the reach of ISIS into the U.S. reaches the heart of Michigan.
