300 security cameras installed across MSU housing as campus safety push continues
EAST LANSING, MI - The installation of 300 security cameras across the Michigan State University campus is complete, according to an email from the university residential service LiveOn. The camera project is part of a recent push by MSU officials to address safety and security concerns across campus, said spokesman Dan Olsen. “Cameras have been strategically placed to enhance the overall safety and security of the residence halls,” according to the email. All on-campus residence halls and apartments now have the newest security cameras, according to the email. His body was found in the Red Cedar River shortly after midnight on Jan. 21.

EAST LANSING, MI – A flood warning has been issued for the Red Cedar River. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids says the iconic river in East Lansing is at an increased risk for flooding until Sunday night. The river’s flood state is at seven feet as of Thursday afternoon, but it is expected to continue rise and flood just after midnight on Friday. It will crest at 8.1 feet on Saturday before falling back below flood state Sunday evening, the NWS said. The river is expected to reach flood stage in East Lansing after midnight tonight.”The crest compares to a previous incident on Feb. 16, 1915, according to the NWS.
