Atwater Brewery donates $50K to create diversity scholarship program at Michigan State University
Atwater Brewery, a craft brewery partner of Molson Coors, announced a $50,000 donation to Michigan State University (MSU) to create an endowed scholarship program known as the Atwater Brewery Student Scholarship.
Nearly 100 Saginaw graduating seniors qualified for Saginaw Promise scholarship
SAGINAW, MI -- As more than 300 graduates walk across the stage to receive diplomas, nearly 100 are eligible for the Saginaw Promise scholarship. According to Deb Sanchez, director of the Saginaw Promise scholarship, of the 355 senior students within the Saginaw Public School District’s Promise Zone, 98 have qualified for the scholarship. Those eligible for the scholarship must attend any of the three public Saginaw high schools or the Michigan Lutheran Seminary and live within the Saginaw school district boundaries, made up of Saginaw, Kochville Township, Zilwaukee and parts of Buena Vista Township acquired when that district was dissolved in 2013. EMU, Henry Ford College partner to offer frontline workers scholarships during pandemic
YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan University and Henry Ford College announced Wednesday a partnership to offer frontline workers scholarships to EMU. In order to qualify, frontline workers must complete their HFC associate degree and pursue a bachelor’s degree at EMU. The partnership is the first of its kind, and stemmed from Governor Whitmer and the state’s Futures for Frontliners scholarship program. Under the program, frontline workers can earn a degree from a local community college at no cost. “This new partnership between Henry Ford College and Eastern Michigan University is an exciting opportunity for Frontliners to extend their education even further.
U-M pushes forward with anti-racism faculty hiring initiative on Ann Arbor campus
ANN ARBOR – The University of Michigan is seeking to hire at least 20 new tenure-track faculty members on its Ann Arbor campus with scholarly expertise in structural racism and racial inequality as part of a new three-year hiring initiative. Funding for the faculty hires, research and scholarships affiliated with the initiative will be provided by the Provost’s Office. Additionally, the Provost’s Office will partner with the Office of Research and the National Center for Institutional Diversity to organize and support research and education under the initiative. The U-M Biosciences Initiative, in conjunction with the hiring initiative, will be filling four tenure-track positions this year. A selection committee of faculty members will review proposals by deans and groups of faculty submitted in January and will make hires.
Virtual infinite scholars college fair

President Jones is set to host a virtual college fair every night this week from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature over 70 colleges and universities providing “onsite” admission and scholarships and information to local graduating high school seniors. There will be a different set of colleges and universities featured every day.
